Massimo was a great teacher and very flexible about adapting this class for our very young grandsons. He says the ideal age is 5+ but the twins are only 2 and 1/2 and he was very patient with their limited skills/attention span, managing to keep them excited and involved the whole time. The resulting pizza was very tasty and we enjoyed our first exposure to "pizza balls" (aka pizza fritta).Fun pizza class with Massimo

Massimo hosted us in his home for a wonderful 2 hour pizza-making class. He kept our kids (7 and 9) engaged and involved in every step of the process, while answering any and all questions we had about Rome culture, history and cuisine. Massimo was an absolute gem! He was so great with my two boys (5 and 8). He welcomed us into his home and made two delicious types of pizza, both were so good. Massimo kept the boys’ attention, had them helping with all the steps, and even surprised the birthday boy with lovely tarts and a birthday wish! I would highly recommend Massimo to anyone who wants to spend the day in a true Roman kitchen with such a kind soul. A great way to spend time with the kids for a special memory. Massimo was fantastic with our kids. At this point in the trip, it was day 9 and our kids were tired and not the best behaved. But they had an absolute blast making pizza and Massimo did an excellent job of engaging them and helping them to make sauce and dough. Our kids are 5, 4, and 2. Massimo was a welcoming and engaging host. His clear instructions, patience and gentle guidance helped our boys simply love the pizza-making experience; so much so that the first thing we did once we got home was to replicate the recipe and as much as possible to experience. In spite of the heat, we truly enjoyed the time with him as a local, the recipe tips and his stories about him growing up cooking with his grandmother. The pizza we made was absolutely delicious - no better proof than hearing our picky eater say "this is really good!" in between bites. We visited Massimo in his magnificent Roman apartment at the beginning of October 2022 with two children aged 9 and 6. Massimo was very hospitable, he prepared everything necessary for cocking two types of Italian pizza according to his family recipes. Our children were fascinated by the process, and my husband and I learned the secrets of home-made real Italian pizza and just enjoyed the process. Massimo was a wonderful host. From the second that we met him, we knew that we were going to have a great time. We are a family of 5 (8 years, 11 years, 14 years) and everyone got involved. We've done the tours, the museums and the galleries, but spending time with locals is the best way to get a feel for the authentic culture of a place. We booked a 2-hour pizza-making experience with Massimo for my family (2 adults, 3 kids - 6, 9, and 11), and had a fantastic and memorable time. Massimo is incredibly engaging with the kids and clearly loves what he does! To experience and learn how to make pizza in someone's kitchen is a truly unique experience for us tourists and one my kids loved. For anyone looking for something a little different, off the beaten path, and away from the typical tourist activities, with a very genuine, knowledgeable and engaging host, then time with Massimo needs to be on your list of things to do when in Rome! Our experience with Massimo was everything we wanted it to be! Our kids (4 and 7) were engaged and excited the whole time, and Massimo is an expert at educating, entertaining and sharing the history of pizza. He was welcoming, professional and his apartment was easy to find, and close to the city center - making it easy to incorporate into our schedule. He teaches with humor, in excellent and proficient English and with a true flavor of hospitality and openness, answering every question we had about Roman life and different customs in Italy. The hands-on element of this experience had my kids laughing and giggling the entire time. Massimo is encouraging and also did a great job building them up in the process. The pizza was delicious, and my husband and I enjoyed the authentic experience, and learning about different culinary traditions in Italy. This is a must-do - you won't regret booking this! Als Wiederholungstäter (02-2020 und 10-2021) können wir guten Gewissens die volle Punktzahl geben! Massimo ist nicht nur ein guter Koch, sondern auch ein megatoller Gastgeber, der super auf unsere Kids (9, 7 und 2 Jahre) eingegangen ist. Sprachbarrieren wurden einfach überwunden, toll, wie das geklappt hat! :-) Nebenbei ist seine Wohnung sehr charmant eingerichtet, u.a. gibt es bestimmt 1.000 Kochbücher! Our family of 4 had the pleasure of learning to make pizza with Massimo during our week in Rome. His class was at the top of the list of best things we did during our trip; our 10-year-old rated it her favorite thing. Massimo was enthusiastic, engaging, and patient with our kids. What a great time we had with Massimo. He put together a custom itinerary which started with some pizza making in his beautiful and eclectic apartment, and then took us on a foodie tour around the historic center of Rome. Some afternoon quiet time was necessary to allow our food coma to pass! We are a family of five (kids were 12, 7, and 3) and he had them all enthralled when making pizza, keeping them engaged, and fun! He had great patience for the constant stream of questions from them on all topics from food to history to Italian customs to… to… to! The food tour ably mixed sugar hits (roman pastries, cannoli, and of course gelato) with the savoury (porcetta, Italian meats, coffee), while his local knowledge, including pointing out the school he went to, where he shopped with his granny, etc. was especially interesting for the kids. He has an excellent command of English, which was great as our Italian was sadly lacking. Would we recommend??? YES!One of our most fun experiences in Rome!

When we booked the arrangement, we were very curieus about how it would be. We walked towards the meeting place, a normal local building, unsure if we were on the right spot. Exactly on time, the door opened and a friendly italian, Massimo, welcomed us. He let us in and showed us around in his typical italian appartement. After this, we started on the actual activity, making pizza. This is the part our kids loved the most. Massimo really tried to include them, which was not always easy due to a language barrier, but overall the kids enjoyed it. And Massimo too ;-) We had a lovely afternoon and learned an entirely new way of making and eating pizza. It was simply delicious. Massimo was outstanding. He clearly loves teaching folks to cook. He was especially welcoming of our children and engaged them in the process early and often.
