48 hours in the Venice of the North

Live like a local in Bruges for 48 hours! Whether you love canals, chocolates, or cobbled streets; finding fun things to do in Bruges for 2 days is easy. Looking for exactly what to do in Bruges for 2 days? Look no further! Day 1: Walk around the Old Town Much of the charm of Bruges is concentrated in its lovely Old Town, most of which can be easily covered on foot. You can find plenty of Bruges highlights, including the Belfy of Bruges (a medieval bell tower in the Market Square) and the Gothic style Town Hall. Spend your first day wandering around the cobbled streets. Don’t forget to indulge in lots of Belgian chocolate from one of the many delectable chocolate shops along the way! Day 1: Check out a free harp concert If you’re in Bruges between Tuesday and Saturday, don’t miss one of Luc Vanlaere’s free harp concerts in Site Oud Sint Jan. You’ll get to enjoy the stunning music from this local Bruges harpist for a full 40 minutes, completely for free. It’s a truly unique and unforgettable experience! Day 2: Take a boat trip down the pretty canals Bruges is often referred to as ‘The Venice of the North’, thanks to its various canals that crisscross the center of the city. Take a little trip along its waters and you’ll be able to find out a little more about the history of Bruges and take in iconic sights from the comfort of your guided boat. Bring along a fresh Belgian waffle from a local food vendor! Day 2: Ride around in a horse-drawn carriage The horse-drawn carriages that depart from the central square just serve to enhance the old world charm of Bruges. Hail a carriage and enjoy a relaxing horse-drawn ride around the picturesque Old Town.

Great beer tasting 😀

Artur was most personable and such a good host. He was very knowledgeable and found the right beers for us in 2 brilliant beer bars. We also visited an amazing beer shop with a huge selection of beers. Thank you Artur!

A most perfect afternoon!!

My travel companions and I only had one short day in Bruges. We decided to book Xavier’s Highlights and Hidden Gems walking tour so that we could really see as much as we could of this beautiful city. Xavier is charming, kind, and knowledgeable about his home town. He modified our tour to fit our needs and desires. This trip was our first into Belgium (3 cities in 3 days) and served a reconnaissance mission for future trips. We will most definitely be back to spend more time in Bruges thanks to Xavier. We will be wanting to book other tours with him at that time. Highly recommend!

A True Local Gem

We had a wonderful time with Hugo! He (and generations of his family) is from Bruges and has so much deep knowledge of the city and fun (and funny) anecdotes to share. We loved that he focused on small, local businesses. It was a great way for us to learn about Bruges during a short, weekend visit. We would love to seek Hugo out next time we come, as well!

Wonderful kickstart to Bruges

Hilde is a fantastic tour guide. She is very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed our time spent with her. You will not be disappointed with her overview tour and will most likely leave with chocolates in hand! Well done Hilde, it was a pleasure!
