Things To Do At Night in Cambodia

We had a quick tour with Meng just after our arrival to Siem Reap and it was a lovely way to start the visit. The tour started in a location that was easy to find, Meng was there waiting for us, and we immediately started eating. We were concerned that we would have to go somewhere else to go eat after our "tastes", but we were full before the tour was finished and couldn't try the last tasting. The tuk tuk ride gave us a chance to see some parts of the city we probably wouldn't have visited, and Meng provided us with some interesting bits of information about the city. Would definitely recommend.

We met Chan just after sunset, and instantly knew we were in for a flavorful evening! Her passion for food and travel was palpable as she walked us to our first stop. She excitedly explained every single dish we tried, recounting to us the memories of eating these same dishes when she was young. We would never have experienced the dishes or markets we visited that evening. We finished with a divine tasting of all of the different fruit we had never seen or heard of. We had an absolutely magical time eating, learning, and connecting with Chan!!

We had booked a night street food tour with Chan. Little did we know it was to be one of our top memories from a wonderful visit to Cambodia. Chan's communication, promptness, friendliness, knowledge and enthusiasm was second to none. On her request, we met earlier than anticipated. She took us to many culinary delightful spots that evening. (We suggest to share food with people in your group to be able to have room for all the culinary tastings that she takes you to. I will not tell you about the wonderful foods that we traveled around town by foot and on Tuk Tuks, but rather to let everyone know that Chan also goes the extra mile. In between courses, we found ourselves in a classroom of teenagers being taught English supported by the Buddhist monks. Chan would explain her views on the all the culture and social history of the country. The evening was never ever dull, in fact we all enjoyed each other's company that the night went way later than expected and when we thought it just couldn't get any better, we ended up meeting with her the next evening for a wonderful and fun evening spent with the Lady Boys. What fun!! I hope to return to Siem Reap one day and would book another food tour with Chan well in advance. She is a highlight!

Chan is not only a passionate foodie but an intelligent and easy to converse with woman who speaks English fluently. I enjoyed every minute with her. I highly recommend the night food tour which exceeded my expectations. Delicious food in a fun atmosphere.
