  • Shop for Food and Souvenirs at Harvel’s Market

Havelske trziste a one of the permanent markets in Prague and is frequented by locals and tourists. There are a wide range of stalls selling everything from fruit and vegetables, flowers, to arts and crafts, wooden toys and ceramics. It can be a good place to buy a tourist souvenir. It can also be a useful idea to take along a local guide, as not everyone speaks English and the market tends to have “tourist” prices. If you have a local to haggle for you — all the better!

You’ll find Havelske trziste just off Melantrichova Street, which is one of the pedestrian routes linking the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. If you’re using the metro take Mustek, line A or B.

  • Visit Prazska trznice — an Authentic Czech Market

The Prague Market (the largest of the outdoor markets in Prague) is located in a historic area — Holešovice — near the Vltava River bend outside the city center. Because of the distance it attracts fewer tourists, so is cheaper and caters mainly for locals. Stalls sell a range of products from fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as second hand clothing, electronics, household items and arts and crafts. There are also a number of Czech or Asian food stalls should you get hungry!

This one’s a bit more of the beaten track — a local guide can show you the way and help you navigate the market too — it’s big!

  • Naplavka Farmers Market

Farmers markets are great. You get guaranteed fresh product, often at a fraction of the cost you’d pay in a supermarket. Did we mention range? You’ll find a lot of seasonal products to choose from!

Located by the river underneath the Vysehrad fortress, this is one of the most popular markets in Prague. On a nice Saturday it’s the perfect place to take a stroll to — it’s sure to make you fall in love with Prague. As well as fresh fruit and vegetables there’s fresh – water fishes – pike perch, carp and eel, eat and sausages, free range eggs, honey, pastries and cakes, spices, fresh unpasteurized milk and much more!

  • Visit the Biggest Flea Market in Europe!

Every Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Prague 9 there’s Kolbenova — covering over 50 000 square meters — making it the largest of all flea markets in Prague (and Europe). You will pretty much find anything you might be looking for — curiosities, second-hand and new goods – for some of the lowest prices anywhere! Clothes! Books! Antiques! Or some used furniture for your apartment. You’ll find unique offerings too — like actual artifacts from the communist era.

Because of the expansiveness of the market, it can be a good idea to take a local guide along who can point you to the best stalls, and also speak Czech for you. Many sellers speak English, but it’s never guaranteed and your local host will probably be able to get you even more of a bargain.

  • Discover “Little Vietnam”

Who would know there’s a mini Vietnam located in the southern suburbs of Prague? Well a local would. Discover the authentic Sapa market — as authentic as any you’d find in South East Asia — in the heart of Europe.

Vietnamese are actually the third largest group of immigrants in the Czech Republic, and this market is the biggest distribution center for Vietnamese goods in Europe. It’s the place to stock up on Asian sauces, green tea, seafood, spices and tofu! You’ll find stores and stalls with grocery items, as well as some fantastic ethnic restaurants — and Vietnamese street food. A guided tour will help you on the way to sampling a little bit of the best of everything!

Adela Provides Great Experience on Prague

Adela was one of a couple of local guides we utilized during our recent visit to Prague and she provided a great experience. Took us to places representing both the new and old of Prague. Had good connections with a couple of the local coffee shops and food shops that we got to experience. Provided great information on a relatively short tour, and added to our enjoyment of the trip. Thanks!

Great tour guide, very professional, interesting places

Adela was fantastic - very friendly, easy to talk to, and really tried to show off her neighborhood. She gave us good advice on some areas or highlights to go back to. The area was a nice break from the busier, more touristy downtown. Definitely would recommend. Thanks for the great tour!
