Best Activities in London

The best thing about London is that there are so many activities in and around the city no matter the time of year. Whether they’re seasonal pop-ups or permanent fixtures, you’ll always find something to do. Your local host is the best person to show you the top London activities. In the meantime, here is our top 5.

  • Become a top chef in a cooking course

Tie your apron, put on your chef’s hat and get ready to try your hand at cooking like a top chef at a cookery course. It’s the best way to experience British food like a local and discover the country’s yummy cuisine. Discover authentic, delicious food in a relaxed and comfortable environment, while you learn from a local expert.

You’ll be taught step by step how to prepare and cook some of the country’s top dishes, like broccoli and Stilton soup, beef wellington, Lancashire hotpot, and many other heart-warming dishes. Make this one of your top London activities and you can take the recipes home to make for your friends and family.

  • Enjoy a Shakespearean play at The Globe

Step back in time and become a true Londoner at Shakespeare’s Globe. It’s a unique and thrilling playhouse where guests can enjoy performances written by the legend William Shakespeare. Like in the 16th century, most theatregoers spend the whole duration on their feet. There are usually 700 standing tickets available for every show, giving guests the best view in the house. Not to mention, tickets are just £5.

What’s more, The Globe is a celebrated place of education, with a variety of workshops and exhibitions for keen literature students. Always wanted to see a famous British play like Much Ado About Nothing? Or learn about the making of Romeo and Juliet? Just ask your private host about tickets to this London activity.

  • The Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum is one of the best activity days in London. Home to archaic dinosaur skeletons, strange fish from the deep sea, and thousands of years of research, it’s a spectacular place to visit. Whether you’re a keen scientist or have a love for the old world, your local host will take you here so you can discover a world you never even knew existed.

You’ll learn about 80 million specimens stretching across billions of years, while you walk in and out of the different zones. Every day, week and month there are a range of impressive and inspiring exhibitions for everyone to enjoy. The best thing yet, admission is free!

  • Watch a movie under the stars

Nothing quite beats sitting under the stars and watching a movie. London has plenty of outdoor cinemas and rooftop film clubs where you and your local host can eat popcorn and enjoy a good movie. Screenings range from classics like Grease and Dirty Dancing to cult films like Pulp Fiction and Donnie Darko, and tickets can be as little as £5.

It’s a great way to see how locals spend their evenings, taking a few moments to chill out and enjoy peace away from the rush of the city. At most of these venues they serve classic cocktails and beer for you to sip on throughout the movie. They often have the most beautiful views of London at night too.

  • Experience the wonders of The West End

You cannot visit London without going to see a show on The West End. It’s like Broadway to New York, it’s one of the most magical and exciting activities in London. From Piccadilly to Drury Lane there are theaters on every corner. Whether you want to laugh until it hurts at a comedy or sing until your heart’s content at a musical, there’s a show to suit everyone’s personal taste.

There’s also plenty of restaurants and bars on Leicester Square too, the center of The West End, where you can grab a cheap pre-show meal and a glass of wine to get you ready for a spectacular evening with your local host.

About local
Learned the basics and much more!

Although I've been taking photos for awhile, Kemal started by pointing out some very simple ways for me to improve my shots. The rest of the time was then spent wandering though delightful Camden, capturing shots of many intriguing characters, and learning more advanced photography concepts. Kemal would explain a concept in detail, walk thru it in a friendly hands-on manner, and then help me practice and work towards mastering it. I came away from the session with Kemal, with a much deeper understanding of photography and many amazing shots! Thank you Kemal!

About local
Fantastic Experience!

Kemal was a knowledgable, friendly, passionate, and intriguing guide during our tour of Westminster. Our family imcluded one wheelchair user and two children (9, 13). Kemal taught us a great deal and adapted to meet the needs of 4 eager, but jet lagged students. He sent me educational material to supplement what he taught us and made himself available after the tour for any questions I may have after reading the material he provided. We spoke with Kemal and chose to customize our tour to include photos of our family. We are thrilled with their quality and they are my favorite souviners of the trip. We learned and saw so much in our few short hours with Kemal. The next time we are in London we will definitely take another tour with him.

Beyond Expectations

Kemal was an amazing guide. Not only did he provide hands on photography training that will forever change how we take pictures, but the setting he chose allowed us to see parts of London we would never have known about. Our only regret is we didn’t book Kemal earlier in our trip so we could apply our new skills and training for all of our London photos. Hands down one of the best experiences we have had while visiting a new city. Thanks Kemal!!
