The Eiffel Tower: A symbol of Paris and all of France
The Eiffel Tower is one of the most instantly recognizable structures in the world. It was built in 1889 by Gustave Eiffel for the World’s Fair, and has become both an enduring symbol of Paris and a global icon. It stands 324 metres tall and is the tallest structure in Paris. It was the tallest man-made structure in the world until the completion of the Chrysler Building in New York in 1930. The Eiffel Tower is made of iron, and was originally painted red. It is now painted in a shade of brown that is darker at the bottom and lighter at the top. The Tower has three levels, and the highest is open to the public. There are stairs and elevators to take visitors up to the top, where there are incredible views over Paris. On a clear day, you can see for up to 40 kilometres. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, and has welcomed more than 250 million visitors since it opened. It is lit up at night, and is especially stunning when viewed from across the River Seine.

We had an amazing tour with Gelsomina. We just arrived to Paris and wanted to take a less touristy path through the city (avoiding Arc de Triomphe, Eiffle Tower, Champs-Elysees, etc). She curated a wonderful walk for us through Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter. We got to see all her favorite spots while also orienting us on how the city is laid out and pointed out historical facts that really helped us get excited about our week. We definitely recommend Gelsomina for a tour through Paris!

Absolutely fantastic experience! We had a layover in Paris and were looking for a local guide who could show us around without the stress of planning, and we hit the jackpot with Gelsomina. She made sure we hit all the spots we wanted to see, and even suggested some hidden gems we would have missed otherwise.

Incredibly thoughtful guide to Paris!
