Montmartre is a large hill in Paris's 18th arrondissement. It is 130 metres (430 feet) high and gives its name to the surrounding district, part of the Right Bank in the northern section of the city. The historic district established by the City of Paris in 1995 is bordered by rue Caulaincourt and rue Custine on the north, rue de Clignancourt on the east, and boulevard de Clichy and boulevard de Rochechouart to the south, containing 60 ha. Montmartre is primarily known for its artistic history, the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur on its summit, and as a nightclub district. The other, older, church on the hill is Saint Pierre de Montmartre, which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit missionary Saint Ignatius of Loyola received communion before travelling to Mont Saint-Michel.

Made my entire visit!
I was in Paris for 17 days and my day with Nella was one of my favorites. I had never been to Montmarte and she made it so special, unique and definitely local! No tourists traps! Her beautiful descriptions as an artist about the life of Van Goth and Picasso during their time in the village was so enlightening and entertaining. She was easy to be with and just a lovely person. I would hire her to accompany me to any arts centered tour in Paris!

Perfect way to see Montmartre
We had a lovely time with Olivia - she was very knowledgeable and friendly. And the food we tried was exquisite and plentiful - definitely don’t plan to eat dinner afterwards!

Welly is the best!
Many thanks to Welly and WithLocals! We arrived Sunday a bit jetlagged but started our week in Paris with a 5 hour tour with Welly. Everything went extremely well and he customized our tour just as we asked taking us around to "hidden gems." He was always careful to ask about the speed of walking and whether we needed to use the restroom or not. Not just a great tour but also a great guy!
By the way, this is our second tour with WithLocals. Both tours have been exceptional and a great way to begin a trip to a foreign city.
