Montmartre is a large hill in Paris's 18th arrondissement. It is 130 metres (430 feet) high and gives its name to the surrounding district, part of the Right Bank in the northern section of the city. The historic district established by the City of Paris in 1995 is bordered by rue Caulaincourt and rue Custine on the north, rue de Clignancourt on the east, and boulevard de Clichy and boulevard de Rochechouart to the south, containing 60 ha. Montmartre is primarily known for its artistic history, the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur on its summit, and as a nightclub district. The other, older, church on the hill is Saint Pierre de Montmartre, which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit missionary Saint Ignatius of Loyola received communion before travelling to Mont Saint-Michel.
Our 5-hour tour with Paolo in Paris was far more than just sightseeing — it was a journey we’ll carry in our hearts forever. For me, it was a chance to rediscover a city I’ve always loved. For my 13-year-old daughter, it was her very first time in Paris — and what an unforgettable introduction it was. From the very beginning, Paolo made us feel like we were stepping into a storybook. He took us through the heart of Paris — from world-famous landmarks to quiet, hidden corners that only a true local would know. Every stop came alive with his deep knowledge of history, culture, and architecture, and he had a gift for storytelling that kept both of us completely engaged, both in Spanish and English. What truly stood out was the way he connected with my daughter. He didn’t just talk to her — he involved her, asked her questions, and made sure she felt part of the experience. We laughed, we tasted delicious macarons and crepes, we learned, and we connected — not only with the city, but with each other. Paolo even helped us capture the moments of the day that we might’ve missed otherwise — turning them into lifelong memories. Thank you, Paolo, for creating such a beautiful chapter in our story. This mother-daughter trip was everything I hoped it would be — and more. We can’t wait to come back to Paris… and next time, we’ll bring the whole family to share it with you.
We loved our Mountmarte tasting, walking tour for 3 reasons: 1- Alexia, what a gem! And a true local, she was knowledgeable and gave us so many experiences we would never have known on our own. 2- the tastes! Again, nothing we would have known to try as visitors, and new and different things then i’ve tried before. Great balance of sweet and savory. 3-Anecdotes and history, alongside incredible views and sights. Incredible way to experience the city! I would not hesitate to book a tour with Alexia; the perfect way to get to know a new city!
We're a family of 4 from the US and I wanted to tour Montmatre so after doing some research, I decided to book the photo shoot/walking tour/food tour with João and he did not disappoint! He was on time and met us by the metro station. After a brief introduction, the tour promptly started. João is very knowledgeable and professional. He showed us and recommended places that only locals would know. The photo shoot was amazing too, my daughters really loved it! 2 hours went by very quick and that's when you know the tour was amazing! I definitely recommend booking with João, it's like 3 tours in 1!
Paul was congenial & knowledgeable, great insights into art and the background of Montmartre. Very responsive to our questions and shaped the tour accordingly. Superb!
