Stavros is easy to reach and coordinate with. All went very smoothly in booking and meeting. Stavros was a great guide and host. He had many interesting stories and was happy to answer lots of questions about the tour, the history of homosexuality in Greek history, and modern gay life in Greece. Some of the information was speculative based on the secrecy of gay relationships, and the time period in which the people lived, but I believe Stavros had researched his tour well. The walk was around some lovely parts of Athens. We started w history and ended in a vibrant area at a gay bar/restaurant. By the end of they tour Stavros felt like a friend. I did have the benefit of being alone w Stavros so we were able to speak easily without others on the tour. A small group of friends would probably have a similar experience. Well worth the time and cost.
Booking a private tour guide was an excellent way to make our visit to Acropolis special. We could not be more satisfied with Markella. She did a wonderful job setting the stage and equipping us with the base knowledge needed to fully enjoy the temples. She is so immersive with her storytelling and pleasant to have conversation with. We toured Delphi the next day and said multiple times how much we miss Markella. Additionally, she is great at communication prior to the tour. You will not regret booking with Markella!
Makram, was a fine host. He was very informed and was fun person to enjoy a short but entertaining kick start tour. We would have been happy to spend more time with him as any subject we raised he was very obliging to discuss in detail. He made our visit to Athens and we recommend him as your tour guide.
What a great morning my wife and I had touring the Acropolis, the Parthenon and the Acropolis Museum with Markella last week. She is obviously very passionate about the history of her great City and I think I learnt more about that history, and particularly this area, than I ever did studying Greek history at school. Markella's commentary and delivery was personal, fascinating and informative. We both came away with a great respect and understanding of what we were viewing. 100% better than any recorded self-guided tour. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens. Best to start early too, in order to avoid the heat and cruise ship masses, while there are still some shaded areas to retreat during the tour.
