The Central Market Hall is the largest indoor market in Budapest. It was built in 1897 and is a beautiful example of architecture from the Art Nouveau period. The market hall is three stories high and has a length of 180 meters and a width of 65 meters. It is a covered market with a glass roof which lets in natural light. The market hall is divided into two parts: the ground floor which is for the sale of fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses and pastries and the first floor which is for the sale of souvenirs, clothes and other items. There are also several restaurants in the market hall where you can try traditional Hungarian food.
Really enjoyed our tour. Eva was very flexible in her itinerary, and took us to a few out of the way spots. Learning to access the train and bus was a fantastic added benefit.
We had an amazing and comprehensive food tour with Beata. She ensured we experienced a wide variety of delightful and unique culinary treats. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful vegan tour with Beata. I’m a vegan traveling with 3 other people who are not vegan and we all loved it. My mom is elderly and walks slowly and Beata was an absolutely patient sweetheart with her. My favorite dishes were the seitan at Vegan Etterem (get some pastries and scones to go so you can enjoy them later) and the savory pancake from Vegan Garden. It was great to be able to try vegan versions of traditional Hungarian dishes. Would highly recommend this for any one who loves food tours.
Beata was a wonderful, delightful tour guide. Very professional and informative. She allowed us time to ask questions and was knowledgeable of the local food culture and its connection to the country’s history. From Paprika, Acacia Honey Tasting, Potato/Cheese Scones, Vegan Goulash Soup, and rich Langos with Cheese and Sour Cream, this was a food extravaganza that nicely capstoned our stay in Budapest. Thank you for being so accommodating and making the tour relevant for our teenagers and 7 year old as well! They all loved it very much. The Mercado Family
