Day Trips in Jakarta

I had only one day to explore Jakarta, and I feel incredibly lucky that Eri was my guide. From start to finish, she was absolutely perfect – warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely thoughtful. Eri took the time to explain everything in detail, sharing not only the history and culture but also local stories that made every stop so much more meaningful. She showed me all the most important landmarks, but what I appreciated the most was how she tailored the entire experience to what I wanted. Knowing I didn’t want a typical tourist route, Eri brought me to local markets, authentic neighborhoods, and hidden gems where I could really experience Jakarta like a local. She even planned the route so efficiently, making the most of every minute while still keeping things relaxed and enjoyable. What truly stood out was her care and attention throughout the day – constantly checking if I was too hot (Jakarta is no joke!), and balancing outdoor visits with indoor, air-conditioned stops to keep things comfortable. And when I told her I loved spicy food, she went above and beyond, taking me to a spot where she ordered a variety of spicy dishes for me to try. It was unforgettable. Thanks to Eri, I completely fell in love with Jakarta. She didn’t just show me the city – she helped me feel it. I can’t recommend her enough. Eri made a custom tour based on our requirements. She was on time and gave us lots of information about the places we visited. She bargained with the sellers in local language and got us good prices for shopping. It was nice to see local places instead of going on a tour that take you to places that give them commissions.

We asked Eri to take us to places off the Monas-Istiqlal-Batavia axis, and she delivered! We visited markets in SCBD, Glodok (Chinatown), ‘new’ Chinatown in the master planned development PIK 2 which showed different versions of Jakarta (we let her know we were visiting the main sites on our own and had visited two other street food markets already). We felt her local knowledge was very useful, and we definitely wouldn’t have found where we ended up (and where we ate!) on our own. Jakarta is harder to explore on foot than any city I have visited before, so having a car was very useful. Eri helped explain local driving customs and navigated central Jakarta gridlock skillfully.
