Below you can find exactly what to do in Florence today to have a memorable trip. Piazza del Duomo Are you ready to remain speechless? Piazza del Duomo is one of the main squares in Florence and is without a doubt one of the most beautiful you will ever see in your life. The architecture, the marble details, and the entire history behind this amazing complex is a must. Ponte Vecchio Florence is a masterpiece, and you can find something amazing at every corner. If you want to see the most romantic bridge in the world go through the Corridoio Vasariano and visit Ponte Vecchio. Spanning the river Arno, this colorful bridge was first acknowledged in 996, but the exact year of construction is not known. A myriad of shops and tiny boutiques, built into the sides of the bridge, will seduce you! There’s a tiny window in the middle of the bridge, so if you love magical sunsets you have to be there for amazing views of the Arno river at dawn. Palazzo Vecchio The most important administrative building is also one of the oldest and most impressive ones in Florence. Built around 1299, with a square design and crenulations, it looks like a castle. It was designed by the same architect who worked on the Duomo and Basilica Santa Croce. The facade tells the entire history of Florence, while the interior will take you back in history with originally decorated rooms. Don’t miss out on the Hercules Room and The room of Cybele. Uffizi Palace and Gallery The Uffizi Gallery is one of the oldest and most famous art museums in the world! The building itself is a work of art, with marvelous statues all around. Renaissance lovers rejoice! You can explore an exquisite art collection featuring Michelangelo, Botticelli, Da Vinci, Titian, and Caravaggio. On your way out don’t forget to fall in love with Piazza Della Signoria, and enjoy some delicious gelato or a fresh Aperol Spritz.
I like that Elisabetta was able to tell the stories of Florentines from medieval times to contemporary history. She knew a lot about culture, food and neighborhood hidden gems. I have been to Florence countless times and Elisabetta was able to show me new things. I highly recommend!
