Private Tours in Florence

Whether you’re a lover of food, art, culture, history (or all of the above!) Florence has something to offer for everyone. With so much to see in this gorgeous Tuscan city, sometimes booking a tour in Florence is the best way to make sure you cover it all! Browse through this list of some of the different types of Florence tours that are worth checking out.

  • Walking Tour of Florence Attractions

Florence is a city built to be explored by foot. Join a walking tour that covers some of the major Florence attractions that you know you must check out on your trip. Don’t worry about getting tired, as the historic center of Florence is quite compact and the main attractions are all located fairly close to each other. And any good walking tour in Florence will include frequent breaks (and a gelato pit-stop or two!).

All you have to do to find the best walking Florence tour for you is ask your local guide! They’ll be able to recommend a walking tour based on your interests and which attractions you’d like to see.

  • Florence Food Tours

Ready to eat your way through the city? You can (and should) do a Florence tour focussed purely on food! Your local host will be able to guide you to all the best restaurants and food markets that offer the most authentic Florentine dishes. This way you can discover some of the hidden foodie gems and restaurants that are frequented by Florence locals.

If you’re a lover of the local cuisine, you should also pick up some ingredients and items from some of the many food markets in Florence. Your host can give you a private cooking class and teach you how to prepare a traditional Tuscan meal for your friends and family back home!  You know you’ll be craving the food pretty much as soon as you land back home!

  • Day Tour of Nearby Tuscan Cities

Florence is the perfect base from where to explore the beautiful Tuscan area. If you want to spend a day from your trip checking out the wider Tuscan region, you’ll be able to find tours that cover nearby San Gimignano, Siena and Pisa among others. Snap a photo in front of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in the morning, have lunch in a square in Siena, and finish off the day with wine in the medieval town of San Gimignano.

Your local host will be able to map out a tour for you, and even happily come along to show you the best things to do in these Tuscan cities. Remember, a Florence tour doesn’t have to be restricted to the city itself when there’s so much beauty to explore in this region!

  • Vespa Tour in Florence

Ever imagined yourself zipping through the cobbled streets of Florence or the rolling hills of Tuscany on a Vespa? Well, it no longer has to be just a dream! There are Florence tours available where you are led around some of the city’s main attractions on the famous Italian scooter. These Vespa tours often go up into the Tuscan hills as well as exploring off the beaten track sites away from the city’s center.

If you want a private tour rather than a group experience, you can simply rent a Vespa and ask your local host to map out a tour for you. They can recommend some spots that are easy to reach on your Vespa, and also some tips on hidden gems you can discover outside the main city. Remember to drive safely and practice caution in the busy and bustling inner city streets!

Uffizi con mi amica

Spending the afternoon with Marty at the Uffizi was like being with an old friend. She was friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. She showed us the important paintings and the history of each one. We wanted to see the Caravaggios, which might not have been on her normal “route”, but she made it possible to show them to us. We also went through the Vasari Corridor which was very special to experience. A great tour with someone who was attentive and very much enjoyed art history! Grazie!

Better than most tours of Florence

I like that Elisabetta was able to tell the stories of Florentines from medieval times to contemporary history. She knew a lot about culture, food and neighborhood hidden gems. I have been to Florence countless times and Elisabetta was able to show me new things. I highly recommend!

Una Splendida Giornata!

My husband and had a great day going to San Gimignano with Fabio. From pick up at our hotel in Florence to drop off, everything was wonderful. If you want to take a private day trip to this beautiful hilltop town known for its towers, don’t hesitate to use WithLocals and book with Fabio. He is knowledgeable, enjoyable to be with and kind enough to speak to me in Italian so I could practice mine!

Marco is a wonderful art historian & guide

We were so fortunate to have Marco as our guide at the Uffizi. He is a great art historian who was able to shepherd us through the large collection and give us a more complete background on the amazing works of art. He is professional, patient, and kind. We highly recommend Marco to guide anyone visiting Florence’s museums and cultural attractions.
