The Colosseum or Coliseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is an oval amphitheatre in the centre of the city of Rome, Italy. Built of concrete and stone, it is the largest amphitheatre ever built. The Colosseum is situated just east of the Roman Forum. Construction began under the emperor Vespasian in 72 AD, and was completed in 80 AD under his successor and heir Titus. Dedicated for use by the Roman people and free of charge, it was the largest structure of its kind in the Roman world; its seating capacity of 50,000 spectators was exceeded only by the capacity of the Theatre of Marcellus.

Max is the best!
We enjoyed an informative and lively tour of Rome with many sites and stories we would have otherwise missed , had Max not been our guide. Moreover, his humor and laid back approach made questions and dialogue easy and fun!

Great walking tour !
My family and I did our first walking tour of Rome with Max. Max wss super communicative from the start, chill and very easy to talk to . He’s funny, kind and very accommodating . We had 2 kids who weren’t always the best behaved through the 3 hour tour ( some tantrums and fights along the way) but he was super patient and went with the flow. He took us to this amazing gelato place too :) Max had lots of stories to tell which made all the history so fascinating - his depth of knowledge and all those details that he knows are clearly impressive . We had an amazing tour - and would highly recommend him to anyone !

Colosseum and Roman Forum Tour
This was our second tour using WithLocals and we had another wonderful experience. Our guide was Pietro Paolo and his tour was fantastic. Pietro has extensive knowledge of the history of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Italy and kept us engaged throughout the entire tour . I highly recommend Pietro - you won’t be disappointed.

Humour and information combined
Bado met us on time and was prepared for an informative tour. He knew how to get us into the colosseum quickly and he knew when to share information with us. He didn't overwhelm us with facts and he answered our questions clearly. Bado has lots of knowledge and a skill for sharing it. We had a great time.
