53 Wine Tours in Rome

Welcome to Frascati, Rome's hidden gem!

Rome is the capital of Italy and the largest city in the country. It is located in the central-western portion of the Italian peninsula, on the Tiber River within Lazio region. Rome is the third most populous city in the European Union after London and Berlin. With 2.8 million residents in 1,285 square kilometers (503 square miles), it is also the most densely populated comune in Italy. Rome's history spans over two and a half thousand years. While the city's origins are uncertain, legend has it that it was founded as Rome by Romulus and Remus, the twin sons of Mars, the god of war, on 21 April 753 BCE. Rome is one of the oldest continuously occupied cities in Europe. It is referred to as "The Eternal City", a notion expressed by ancient Roman poet Tibullus in the 1st century BCE, and the city is also central to the legend of Romulus and Remus. The city's early population originated from a mix of Latins, Etruscans, and Sabines. Eventually, the city successively became the capital of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, and is regarded by some as the first ever metropolis. It became the dominant power in the Mediterranean Basin and grew to become one of the largest cities of the ancient world. With an estimated 50 to 80 million inhabitants (roughly 20% of the world's population at the time), Rome was the most populous city in the world for centuries. The city's long history has led to it being home to numerous sites of historical and cultural significance, such as the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been described by writer and historian Will Durant as "the greatest story ever told".

Much more than wine and food

Claudio was our #1 of the 8 tour guides we had during our trip. We booked a wine and food tour but it became so much more. The wine and food was fantastic but the olive oil was unforgettable. Claudio ended up buying some as well. But the best part was the hidden archeological site he surprised us with. They were actively working the site. No entrance, fee or other tourists, just us and the university archeologists. Thank you Claudio.

Wonderful trip in the countryside

We had a fabulous day with Pierpaolo. We saw amazing views . We enjoyed wonderful food and wine including strawberries and truffles in Nemi and great wine in Nemi and Frascati. Pierpaolo told us of the history of the area and was extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour if visiting Rome.

Amazing Experience

We booked the wine tour with Claudio, which was coincidentally on my 40th birthday! We had such a great day! Claudio scooped us up from our hotel in Rome, and was beyond informative. While it’s of course his job, it felt like we were friends throughout the day! He answered questions, gave us information we would never have known, and helped us to see amazing things throughout our day! Paula was wonderful, and it’s clear she truly loves her work. We would love to catch back up with Claudio should we ever visit Rome again! It was truly an exceptional day!

Perfect host for a perfect day!

Claudio was exceptional. Was awaiting us outside our apartment right on time for a full day in the Frascati region. Excellent first stop for a cappuccino then on to view historic sites in the mountains. Claudio’s choice of our vineyard, Antiche Terra Tuscolane with Paula as our host, was the best wine experience we have ever had. Great wines in Roman-era caves! Simply amazing. Off for lunch and more wine tasting and the food……exceptional. Great conversations, wonderful local expert and a nice day out of Rome to experience another part of Italy. Claudio was the consummate host. Recommend him highly!
