The Vatican Museums are located in the Vatican City, which is an independent city-state within Rome, Italy. The museums contain some of the world's most famous art collections, including the Sistine Chapel and the Raphael Rooms. They are visited by over 5 million people each year. The Vatican Museums were founded in the early 16th century by Pope Julius II. He commissioned the architect Bramante to build a series of rooms to house his collection of ancient sculpture. The museums grew over the centuries as the popes acquired more and more art. Today, they cover over 9 miles of galleries and contain over 70,000 works of art. The Sistine Chapel is the most famous room in the Vatican Museums. It was painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512. The ceiling is covered with scenes from the Bible, including the famous Creation of Adam. The Raphael Rooms are another highlight of the museums. They were painted by Raphael between 1508 and 1524. They contain some of the most famous paintings in the world, including The School of Athens. The Vatican Museums are a must-see for any visitor to Rome. They offer a fascinating insight into the history of art and the Catholic Church.

Francesca was a great guide. Her knowledge and passion about art shines through. There is so much history and Francesca communicated these beautifully. The tour was enjoyed by us all ( including the kids!)
Alessandra was a wonderful guide through the colosseum and forum. Great for families and kept it moving. Very kind and answered all our questions. Patient and passionate!!
Valentina’s tour was smart, fun, and engaging. My students and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. My only regret is that we didn’t book Valentina for a few of her other tours. I won’t make that mistake again.
