Cannaregio is one of the six sestieri of Venice, lying in the northernmost part of the city. It is the largest of the six sestieri by land area and the second by population. Cannaregio stretches from the Grand Canal up to the lagoon and includes two small islands, San Giorgio Maggiore and San Michele. Cannaregio is home to a number of interesting sights. The Cannaregio Canal is one of the busiest in Venice, lined with a variety of shops and businesses. The Rialto Bridge spans the canal, providing access to the Rialto Market, one of the city's most popular tourist attractions. The Ghetto of Venice was established in Cannaregio in 1516 and was the first ghetto in Europe. The ghetto was home to a large community of Jews who were required to live in a specific area of the city. The Cannaregio district is also home to the Ca' d'Oro, one of Venice's most iconic buildings. The Ca' d'Oro is a palazzo on the Grand Canal that was built in the 15th century. The palazzo is one of the city's most visited tourist attractions, due to its ornate architecture and beautiful location.
Claudia was a wonderful guide and the tour was the best way to start our Venice trip. We got to see places off the beaten path and the knowledge she shared made our remaining days exploring that much more meaningful!
Olimpia is a very knowledgeable, prompt, communicative professional who is also super fun! Definitely worth checking out if she’s available when you’re booking.
Olimpia is a very good guide. She offered us a fantastic tour where we were able to taste traditional Venetian dishes. Her approach is relaxed, and she quickly understood our interests and adjusted the itinerary to let us taste good wine. We highly recommend her. Merci Olimpia 😉
