Enjoy Venice the local way over the weekend! From wandering along the Piazza San Marco to admiring the scenic views from the canal, there are so many things that are waiting for you to enjoy in Venice. If you want to know what to do in Venice during the weekend, refer to the list below. Saturday: Piazza San Marco The Piazza San Marco or St. Mark’s Square is surrounded by several attractions, making it a great place to start your sightseeing of Venice. Here, you’ll come across the St Mark’s Basilica, St Mark’s Campanile, Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Clock Tower, and the Correr Museum. Take time to explore the sights and climb to the top of St Mark’s Campanile bell tower to enjoy the best views of the city. Saturday: Delicious Meal At lunch, avoid the tourist traps and head to those dining spots where locals would flock. For instance, the Bacareto da Lele in Santa Croce is a popular haunt for locals at lunch. Check out the Trattoria Dalla Marisa, a family-owned restaurant serving authentic Venetian cuisines! A scoop or two of gelato would be perfect for dessert! Saturday: Gondola Ride Taking a gondola ride is definitely one of the most romantic things to do in Venice at the weekend. It’s also a great way to soak up the scenic views by the canal. If you’re traveling alone, you can save money by joining the shared gondola rides. For couples, book a private gondola with a free serenade from your local gondolier! Sunday: Vintage Shops and Flea Markets Hit the local vintage shops and flea markets on your trip to Venice this weekend. The Mercatino San Martino is a local thrift shop just beside the San Martino Church. Other markets to visit are the Mercato Centrale, Mercatopoli Marghera, Mercatino di San Giobbe, and the Rialto Market. Sunday: Jewish Ghetto Spend the rest of your Sunday exploring the Venetian Ghetto. Established 500 years ago, this place is a great spot to explore and learn a bit of history about the Jewish community in Venice. The place is also home to some Jewish shops, yeshiva, and a Chabad synagogue.
This was my second time Giada She asked many questions before the tour to make sure she covered what I was interested in. Loved the church of Saint pantalone. Would never have found it without her.
Claudia was fantastic with my two daughters! She made them feel comfortable right away and kept them engaged with fun stories and games as we explored the city. Her warmth and energy made our stroll around Venice even more enjoyable. Definitely recommend her for anyone traveling with children!
We began with a visit to Mazzarbo, followed by Burano and Murano. Loris gave us so much local history of Venice and the surrounding lagoons. After learning about the fascinating lace-making history of Burano, we had a leisurely lunch with delicious food, wine, and dessert before moving on to Murano where we were treated to a front-row view of one of the island's highly esteemed glassblowers crafting a custom order of drinking glasses. The private tour with Loris was the highlight of our trip to Venice and we highly recommend him!
We had a fabulous morning with Sarah in Venice. When we met, Sarah chatted to us and got a feel for what we would like to see before we set off. Venice was busy because of the Carnivale but Sarah took us to some quieter areas which we loved. We also visited some local craftspeople in their studios and tried the local festival donuts. A really lovely morning and just what we wanted, thank you Sarah!
