Off the beaten track Medina Tour

From start to finish this tour was amazing! Redouan is indeed a true ambassador for Marrakech, what a gentle and caring soul. Redouan provided such an informative Medina tour, it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. We always felt like we were being treated as special guests. Background history of the medina was intertwined with the visits with local craftsmen, bakers and true hidden gems. I could not recommend Redouan more and sincerely thank him for an incredibly memorable few hours of exploring. If you are thinking of doing this tour, do not hesitate booking Redouan!!

A great experience!

Adil was a fantastic local guide to have. We really enjoyed our afternoon with him. He was good fun and very informative about Marrakech as a city and the local culture. We learnt a lot about the region, which put the food we were tasting into context. Adil had loads to share and show us, and the three hours flew by. The food choices were all great, varied and well chosen; we were absolutely stuffed by the end!

Expert Guide!

Redouan was a brilliant guide. He introduced us to a Marrakech that we would not have found for ourselves. Redouan is extremely knowledgable about all aspects of Moroccan culture and the history. He also is very patient and made sure that we saw as much as possible. A high point for us was buying a rug and a beautiful fossil! Nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend him highly. Thank you Redouan!

Things to do in Marrakech

An overload to the senses, Marrakech is the epitome of exotic destinations. Vibrant and exhilarating, the city will draw you in with its dreamy spas, bustling souks, mosques and eclectic culture! Marrakech offers a wide array of things to do that cater to every need, and experiencing them is always better with a local on your side!

  • Hear the muezzin’s call to prayer up close

This devoutly Muslim country is peppered with hundreds of mosques, but one particularly stands out. Koutobia Mosque is the largest mosque in all of Marrakech, and it will without a doubt put you in a state of utter awe.

Towering over the entire city, the mosque can be seen from practically anywhere and you’ll be dying to check it out from the minute your eyes catches a glimpse of it! Climb up to the top of the minaret where a local guide can time your visit exactly at the call to prayer. Expect to have a soul-stirring experience as the powerful call echoes through your entire body.  This is one of the unique local things you can do in Marrakech that you won’t forget!

  • Learn about Islam and its influence on the city

A local guide can take you to one of the most renowned Islamic colleges and one of Marrakech’s best things to do: Ali Ben Yasser. This perfectly well-preserved 16th century Koranic school is an attraction you can’t pass up. As you walk under delicate stucco plasterwork, mosaics on display and cedar windows, your local guide will explain why this site is so important.

With a local guide by your side, you’ll learn all about its hidden secrets, what the Islamic calligraphy that snakes its way through the walls mean, and interesting facts about the religion to help you further relate to this breath-taking place!

  • Get lost in Marrakech’s souks

Back when people visited Marrakech on goods-burdened camels, the souks were the most important attraction in the city – today, they’re still as important as ever! And you’d be surprised to know that there’s no better way to explore Marrakech than by visiting its souks with a local guide.

Compelling, full of life and energetic, the labyrinth of shops goes on forever, the stalls are pumping with life, and the streets are filled with character and rigor. Your private host will guide you through the maze of streets, teaching you how to haggle your way through the souks, how to say no, and how to differentiate between touristy and authentic! Savor the smell of spices, the intricately carved artifices, the jewelry and the bursting colors of the souks. Wandering around the connecting alleys is one of the most fun things to do in Marrakech!

  • Drink traditional mint tea at a gorgeous private garden

Nestled between the iconic red houses of the city, dozens of gardens are scattered around creating the perfect getaway. Escape away from the hustle and bustle of the souks, the traffic and the constant sight-seeing and relax at one of Marrakech’s many gardens with a local by your side!

Sip traditional mint tea the local way (they call it the Moroccan Whiskey, you will be obsessed!) at Jardin Majorelle. Relish the bold paint and striking blue and yellow colors framing the lush gardens! Your local guide will even take you to the lesser-known hidden gardens, where you can explore the open-air art gallery in Anima, the fine Islamic geometric architecture in Le Jardin Street or the soaring palm trees of La Mamounia!

  • Experience a traditional hammam

A Moroccan hammam isn’t just another way to pamper yourself, it’s one of the most important Moroccan rituals in the country and quite a fun thing to do in Marrakech!

Your local host can take you to the most authentic hammams for the legitimate, non-touristy experience. You’ll get the cleansing of a lifetime; from sitting in a hot steam room, to getting an intense fully body scrub, getting immersed in cold water and having a full body massage with Argan oil – the experience will change you. To the better, we hope! So get ready to don on your robe and feel like you’re an Arab sultan ready to get pampered!

  • Explore the streets of El Mellah

One of the best things to do in Marrakech, along side your local guide is to just pick a district, explore and wander! Your local host will shine a light on the history that went through in the district and many more local insights!

The district looks and feels like Marrakech 30 years ago, unscathed by modernization, unchanged by the advancement of the country and it’s all yours to discover!Check out the rugged souks, the shops, buy your herbs and spices, or enjoy a cup of Berber tea at the Almaza Synagogue.

  • Take a cooking class with a local

The best way to explore the culture of a country and get under its skin is to try the local food! And not just try the local food; bring back home a valuable souvenir by learning how to cook two or three traditional Moroccan meals.

Marrakech is known for its tasty, hearty and flavorful meals and it’ll be time for you to get busy in the kitchen and learn how to duplicate the mouth-watering meals you’ve been eating, thanks to you local host.
