There are loads of things to do in Lisbon today. From stunning historical monuments to romantic castles, stunning gardens or delicious traditional food, explore Lisbon today for an unforgettable experience. Below you can find exactly what to do in Lisbon today to have a memorable trip. Alfama How do you feel about a little workout through a fantastic neighborhood? If you don’t want to go up the hill you can also take the famous Tram 28 but don’t miss out on visiting the picturesque Alfama. Go back in time to an era where moors were the locals, and enjoy the narrow streets, and cozy little restaurants. If you find yourself there at night go check out one of the traditional Fado clubs. Pass by and wonder at St. George’s Castle, Se Cathedral, Feira da Ladra, and the amazing views over the city. There’s no better way to enjoy Lisbon like a local than exploring Alfama. Belem History, architecture, culture, and Pasteis de Nata, all in one trip. Belem is a historic neighborhood, and here you will find some of the most important monuments and museums in Lisbon. Explore the Jeronimo Monastery, the Belem Tower, and the Belem Palace. The Belem Palace is now the official residence of the president but it used to be the residence of kings! Belem was the departure point of Vasco da Gama, Ferdinand Magellan, and even Columbus made a stop here on his way back to Spain. Don’t forget to go to Pasteis de Belem, the place where the famous Pasteis de Nata desert was born. Elevador de Santa Justa How would you like to see the beautiful city of Lisbon from the top? Take a ride on the Elevador de Santa Justa for some amazing views of the city. Does the architecture of the elevator look familiar? That’s because it was designed by Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, a former student of Gustave Eiffel who designed The Eiffel Tower in Paris. You can go up for the views or for an easier way to get to Bairro Alto without walking uphill. Sintra For a fairytale-like day, hop on a train and explore Sintra. You can read about its beauty in Byron’s poems, or go and see it with your own eyes. Walk around the cobblestone streets and wonder at the beautiful villas along the way. The jewel of Sintra is the colorful Palacio Nacional de Pena, which looks like it’s part of a Disney movie. You can also visit Palacio Nacional de Sintra, with beautiful tile interiors, The Castle of the Moors or the Monserrate Palace.
Ana was fantastic as a local guide to experience her city. She was very friendly and made the three of us feel immediately at ease. Her amazing knowledge of historical events brought a great insight to Lisboa. It was very easy to imagine her as a long time friend sharing her experiences. You should not hesitate in choosing Ana to explore this wonderful city.
Jorge was an excellent guide. His tour exceeded our expectations in terms of both quality and time. His enthusiasm and knowledge made our guided tour great. We took many steps as we followed them, starting from the western hills and walking through the valley in the center to the eastern hills, which had great views of the setting sun. We learned a lot about Lisbon and its history in the afternoon. Jorge gave us lots of tips for the rest of our vacation and for souvenir shopping.
Alphé was an amazing host that went above and beyond to create a special tour for my 2 friends and I. He took us to some great spots that we never would have found without him, and gave us some history and funny stories along the way. Highly recommend this tour and this host!
