  • Tap into your adventurous spirit and hit the beach!

Not only does Lisbon have the great fortune of being located on the Atlantic Ocean, but it also happens to be one of Europe's sunniest capital cities. Make your fun in the sun into a truly unforgettable experience with a private water sport lesson. What is better than a Lisbon native to take you to the area's best beaches and teach you the ins and outs of surfing, kite-surfing, and mastering the stand up paddleboard?

  • Ride a rollercoaster in the middle of the city

So technically it isn't a rollercoaster, but Tram 28 comes pretty close to offering the same thrills that you would find at an amusement park and remains one of the most exciting things to in Lisbon with teenagers. Built in the early 20th century to navigate the twisting, steep streets of Lisbon, a ride on Tram 28 is the perfect way to take in the city's beauty and sites.

To truly experience the tram like a local, team up with a private guide who will lead you on a Tram 28 tour in Lisbon. This way you discover highlights and hidden gems of Lisbon at every stop. Including Lisbon's top destinations like the city's sprawling Praça do Comércio, the imposing São Jorge Castle, and neighbourhoods like Chiado and Bairro Alto.

  • Taste your way through the city

One of the best ways to get to know a new culture is through its food. Let your teens snack on Lisbon's best sausages, cheeses, sardines, and the country's favourite sweet, the Pastel de Nata.

If you want your teenagers to learn more about the history and significants of these treats, a guided food tour is the way to go. What better way to experience the flavours of Lisbon than through the expertise of a local host? Come with comfortable shoes, your camera, and a big appetite, as a Lisbon food tour will take you through the city's narrow streets in search of the most delicious, traditional foods. Let your guide know if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, and they will happily custom fit the tour to your needs.

  • Get moving!

Just because you're on holiday doesn't mean you can't keep up with your daily exercise. In fact, one of the best things to do in Lisbon with teens is physical activity with a local twist. Never been rock climbing before? Sign up for your first lesson while visiting Lisbon with a local guide who will teach you the basic techniques on Monsanto Forest Park's climbing wall.

For the runners in the family, take in a truly unique experience of discovering the city while on a run with a native. Get your heart rate up while cruising past Lisbon's most beloved sites all while learning about the history of this European gem.

  • Feast on a 7-course dinner in a Lisbon home

While on holiday in a new city, few experiences are more memorable for a family than savouring a home-cooked dinner in the home of a local. Lift the veil and experience for yourself how the natives in Lisbon live with a multi-course dinner prepared just for you in the home of your local host. Prepare to feast on expertly crafted local dishes like Portugal's famed bacalhau (salted cod fish) and rabbit pie.

Try a home dinner. Your local host is eager to welcome you into their home and share the country's cuisine with you.

  • Sail along the River Tagus

Hands down one of the coolest things to do in Lisbon with teenagers is a sailing excursion along the city's River Tagus. For a truly unique perspective on Europe's westernmost capital city, head out on the water with your local skipper, who will show you a side of Lisbon you have never seen.

Select between a morning sailing trip as the sun makes its debut over the magnificently tiled roofs of the city, or sunset, when the sun dips deep into the Atlantic and casts its final fading light. Whichever you choose, prepare to relax as your native sailor navigates the river and shares his beautiful city with you.

  • Get an insider's view of one of the world's best fish markets

For centuries, fishing has long been a central player in Portugal's economy, and the tradition still lives today. One of the most fast-paced and historically important things to do in Lisbon with teenagers is a visit to the Livramento Market, which is considered one of the world's best seafood markets.

Your local guide will accompany you in the morning down to a traditional fisherman's village where you will learn about fishing practices and then on to the market where you will work up a serious appetite taking in the local foods. To cap off your day in the life of a Portuguese fisherman, your Lisbon guide will take you to one of the local's favourites - a classic family-run fisherman's restaurant.

Perfect Family-Friendly Tour of Lisbon!

We had a fantastic 90-minute walking tour of Lisbon with Angelo! Our family of four, including two tween girls, really enjoyed the experience. Angelo was incredibly engaging, striking the perfect balance between informative and entertaining. He shared just the right amount of history to give us a great sense of Lisbon’s rich past without overwhelming us. He also had a great way of connecting with our daughters and keeping them interested the whole time — no small feat! Highly recommend Angelo for families looking to explore Lisbon in a fun and accessible way.

Beautiful day in Sintra

Tiago was wonderful and we had a beautiful day visiting Sintra with him. He was on time and knowledgeable and knew all the best spots for pictures! He was also communicative prior to our tour to be sure we had tickets to get into Pena Palace at a good time and handled everything for us. Very happy and definitely recommend him.

Sintra and Cacais in style!

Great day! We lucky to have Tiago as our guide. He contacted us and spoke with us prior to meeting and ensured we were getting the most from our experience. He added a visit to the westernmost part of Europe - Cabo da Roca and showed us Cascais. And still had us back in Lisbon by 3p He was an excellent guide with his knowledge. He absolutely nailed our visit to the castle in Sintra- even in the pouring rain, highlighted the love story, architecture and history. Def recommend him for this trip.
