We spent our first day in Portugal with Gustavo. He arrived to our hotel on time, and took us in his clean comfortable car to theDuoro Valley. We learned a lot of Portuguese history and Port along the way. We stopped for a delicious lunch with amazing wine followed by another winery to try number of Ports. It was super enjoyable. Highly recommend!
My husband and I had the most fabulous day with Anselmo to the Douro Valley from Porto. He was professional and fun; we learned so much about the area and Portugal in general, including funny stories along the way. We were blown away by the magnificence of the area. Thrilled to visit an authentic small town for local port, coffee, church visit and Anselmo’s local tarts. Visits to vineyards, including lunch were also wonderful experiences. We highly recommend touring with Anselmo.
Miguel picked us up right on time (he was early) and was so enjoyable ! He arranged for our luggage to be transported ahead of our group to alleviate the stress of managing it throughout the tour. We saw Pena Palace and he provided the local history. He arranged the tickets and made sure we knew where to go and when to be there. Our time in Sintra was beautiful and the pastries along the way were delicious! He is an excellent guide and so accommodating. I highly recommend a day tour with Miguel!!
If you plan to go to Sintra (or any tours from Lisbon) we highly recommend booking with Rui. Terrific communication from the get-go. We wanted to see the Quinta da Regaleira and Cabo da Roca. Rui worked with us to plan a perfect day. He was on-time in a clean comfortable van. Knew walking shortcuts so that we didn't get caught in the crowds that are the norm in Sintra. Provided insights and info as we walked and answered our many questions about Portugal and Lisbon. The thing that really stands out is Rui's personality, which is delightful. Friendly, comfortable, easy going while still keeping us on track for our very full day. He even added a stop as he drove us back to Lisbon because we hadn't yet been to the Monument to the Discoveries. (Well worth seeing!) An investment to do a private tour? - yes. Worth every penny -- Absolutely! PS - The trains were on strike when we were in Lisbon but because we had arranged with Rui, we didn't have any worries.
