Get inside to admire the amazing displays of artworks, porcelain, silverware, and tapestries. Don’t forget to drop by at the nearby Almudena Cathedral. Saturday: Museums and Art Galleries Exploring the museums and galleries is among the best things to do in Spain this weekend. So head to the Prado Museum for some of the most impressive art collections! The Reina Sofia museum is a great place to admire Picasso’s works of art. If you want to get a peek of Spain’s rich history, the National Archaeological Museum is the best place to be! Saturday: Plaza Mayor and Mercado San Miguel Madrid looks even lovelier at night. So when evening comes, walk towards Plaza Mayor to admire the historic buildings by the square. Make your way towards Mercado San Miguel, a historic market that dates back to 1916. Grab a chair at one of the tapas bars in the market and order a serving of tapas and beer! Sunday: Shopping at Gran Via For some retail therapy, head to Gran Vía, a 100-year old street that’s lined with some of the most sought-after retail shops. Victor is a great guide — he’s friendly and very informative and knowledgeable. I enjoyed hearing about the history of the city while we biked around. The parks and greenery are very beautiful and a peaceful escape in a bustling city.

Walk with Julian

We were a group of 6 British adults who had been to Madrid before staying and visiting in central Madrid. Our time with Julian was a neighbourhood off the beaten track tour and it didn’t disappoint. Interesting buildings monuments churches best tapas bars and bakeries were all part of the tour! Julian was well informed providing excellent commentary throughout our tour. At our request we had short pit stops for a glass sherry and some delicious famous pastries. Julian was a charming guide and we enjoyed our experience very much.
