Grwat Tour with Maria

I just had a little time gap, so this 90 minute tour was perfect. Maria showed me the most important historical sights, gave an overview about the City today and was really charming. I would do anytime again with her.

Great tour of Valencia

We were only in Valencia for a day so decided to book a tour with Cesar so we could see as much of this beautiful city as we could in the time we had. And so glad we did. Cesar was so friendly and knowledgeable and showed us so much of Valencia we would have missed on our own. Couldn’t recommend enough. Thank you.

  • Learn how to make paella

A paella cooking class is something that you should put on your wishlist. Did you know that the word paella means frying pan? We bet you’ve seen the huge black pans in which this traditional Valencian rice dish is cooked. Your local host will provide you with everything you need to prepare a delicious paella together.

When cooking paella, you’ll realize that everyone follows a slightly different recipe or method. Whether using dry rice, chicken or rabbit, local garrofons (green beans), tomato, saffron, salt and olive oil, it will always be a local favorite dish

  • Take an off-the-beaten track city tour

A city tour is another cool thing to do in Valencia, especially on your first day. Your local host will take you through the old city showing you emblematic sights such as the Lonja de la Seda and the bell tower Miguelete. Enjoy discovering hidden gems along the way. Remember that your host can personalize your tour depending on your preferences!

Stroll around, learn about the history of the city and find wonderful photo opportunities in the Old Quarter: the perfect way to start off your visit in Valencia.

  • Live Las Fallas

If there’s something everyone knows about Valencia it’s Las Fallas. The city’s festivities take place every March, in which hundreds of cardboard monuments built by locals are burned after months of hard work. Your local host will give you all the details about the celebrations and will guide you through the crowds. All you need to worry about is having fun!

Las Fallas is such a big event that the city is usually fully booked months in advance. Visitors from every corner of the world all want to witness such a unique event! If you plan on going, make sure you make your reservations ahead of time.

  • Try the famous orxata amb fartons

A perfect plan to get out of the city for a few hours is driving to a nearby town called Alboraya, also known as “orxata land”! Orxata is a typical refreshment made of tiger nuts and enjoyed by adults and kids alike, especially during the summer months. It is often accompanied by fartons (the typical confectionary sweets of the area), which are dipped in the ice-cold orxata.

Once you get to Aboraya, your local host will show you the town and take you to the cutest cafés that serve orxata amb fartons. Be prepared to try an amazing delicacy!

  • Bike along the Turia river

Another one of our favorite things to do in Valencia is going on a biking ride along the Turia river. Jardín de Turia is a lovely city garden, and the biggest one in Spain! Cycle with a local, and stop at the spots you like: Parque Gulliver, Bioparc, Palau de la Música, and different bridges such as Puente de Campanar.

End your bike ride along the river and enjoy a picnic. Take in the sunny Mediterranean weather and the nature surrounding you.

  • Explore the beautiful Mercado Central

Just a stone’s throw from Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the main square of the city, you’ll find the Mercado Central. The architectural value of the building is as outstanding as the stalls you’ll see inside. Book a private tour to have a personalized experience at the market, it’s worth it! You’ll learn about the beautiful dome of the building and the magnificent stained glass windows. Hear all about the basics of the Mediterranean cuisine and all the fresh products you can find in it.

Alternatively, you can visit another colorful market, or do some shopping. Stroll past the Mercado de Colón, a beautiful modernist building with lots of details to admire that turned into a great shopping center.

  • Visit the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias

This is a unique complex in Europe promoting culture. Thanks to the world-famous Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava, what used to be a degraded area of the city is now a wonderful arts and sciences spot.

Make the most of your visit and go on a private tour with a local host. Discover this futurist space and stay until the sun sets. See the amazing evening illuminations around the pond and beyond. This is one of the best things to do in Valencia for sure.

  • Go shopping at Colón street

Many travelers take the opportunity to go on a shopping spree in Valencia. Being the birthplace of so many international fashion brands, a shopping tour will give you the chance to find the items you have on your wishlist.

Let your host guide you through the best shopping street in Valencia: calle Colón.
