Gangaramaya Temple: A Place of Worship, History, and Culture
Gangaramaya Temple is one of the most important temples in Sri Lanka, located in the heart of Colombo. The temple was built in the 19th century by a wealthy merchant, Don Bastian Bawa, who donated his personal land and property to build the temple. The temple complex covers an area of over 6 acres and consists of several buildings, including the main shrine, a Bodhi tree, a museum, a library, a school and a hospital. The main shrine is dedicated to the Buddha, and the Bodhi tree is said to have been brought from India by Bawa himself. The temple is a popular pilgrimage site for Buddhists from all over the world, and is also a popular tourist destination.

He tailored the tour to the areas we had asked about. We went out with Muditha on our first day in Sri Lanka and it was the best way to be introduced to the city and country. Muditha took us to several local spots, explaining interesting cultural and historical points along the way in a way that was really interesting and engaging. He offered great advice for our stay, and we even got to try a king coconut together! We loved it and really recommend it as a way to see the city.
