Best Markets in Vietnam

Have you already heard about some great markets to be found in Vietnam? You can find them everywhere and especially in bigger cities like Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi have some of the best markets.

  • Ben Than Market, Ho Chi Minh City

This is one of the most famous markets in HCMC. Ben Than market is a bustling market during daytime and a social hub after sunset. Located in District 1 of HCMC, this market is a symbol of the city and is a must-see for any visitor. You won’t find any locals doing their shopping here, but it’s a fun visit to do.

Inside the market you can find everything: household staples, textiles, clothes, shoes and even gadgets. Also, here you can find a delightful variety of souvenirs and handicrafts. However, some products are quite pricey but at like all Vietnamese markets the listed price is just a starting point for negotiations.

  • An Dong Market, Ho Chi Minh City

Located in District 5, An Dong Market it`s a big indoor market with four floors. Ground floor is a food court, the first floor is a heaven for shoe-lovers, and the third and fourth are dedicated to clothes (shirts, pants, suits, underwear, jeans, etc.)

If still can’t what are you looking for, you can try your luck down the road at An Dong Plaza (or An Dong 2), a more modern shopping center. If you find yourself shopping during the night you can't miss America Discotheque (right inside the plaza), the largest nightclub in Vietnam.

  • Don Xuang Market, Hanoi

Hanoi’s largest covered market, Dong Xuan is on most visitors sightseeing list. Located in Hanoi Old Quarter, the market is offering a wide range of goods such as fresh products, souvenirs, accessories, and clothing, as well as electronic and household appliances.

Surrounding Dong Xuan Market are many more shops where you can purchase traditional Dong Ho drawings, Bat Trang ceramics, Binh Da embroideries and laces, and sand paintings.

  • Buoi Market, Hanoi

Buoi Market is located in Yen Thai Village of Tay Ho District in Hanoi. This market sells live animals like chickens, ducks, and pigs, but also features ornamental plants.

Other goods can also be found at the market, such as shrimp and fish from the Red River and West Lake, vegetables from many villages near the To Lich and Nhue rivers and specialties from other parts of the country as well.

  • Hoi An Central Market, Hoi An

Hoi An Central Market is one of the best markets in Vietnam. Busy, busy, busy! That is what defines this market, so brace yourself for a bit of extra local bustle. Vibrant colors, rich smells of herbs and spices, exotic fruits and fresh fish. Beyond the food, the market is also known for its tailors and local crafts.

The best time to visit the market is early in the morning because the place tends to get very busy and crowded. Visiting this market can be a real adventure so be prepared to stand strong in the chaos.

Create Authentic Vietnamese Dishes with Mom

Tien and her family were extremely welcoming and accommodating, especially because they found out at the last minute that we didn't eat seafood and changed the whole menu to suit us! The food was delicious and we were made to feel like part of the family. Tien's mother even gave us some Vietnamese coffee to take home as a gift when she found out how much we loved it. To top it all off, Tien and her brother then gave us a personal tour of the city - something we would never have got a chance to see had it not been for them. Please pass on our thanks to Tien and her family - the evening we spent with them was a highlight of our visit to Vietnam! Many thanks, Ellie and Alice H

Tolles Erlebnis!
