Alice

Edinburgh is my home, but I'm originally from the East of England, close to Cambridge. I've travelled far in Europe and Asia and I've lived in many places, Haarlem in the Netherlands, Newcastle in the north of England and London. I discovered storytelling in 2010 through my career as an actress in the theatre and it soon became my passion and my profession. I'm a strong believer in the power stories have to shape our perceptions, allowing us a safe space to explore the human experience.

In 2015 I finally realised my dream to live and work in Scotland. I moved to Edinburgh where a warm community of storytellers and artists welcomed me. Here I perform, run workshops, coach storytellers, and use storytelling in teaching and of course tour guiding. When I arrived I quickly learned the stories of the city's history. Edinburgh is a treasure trove of tales waiting to be told. Every street corner has a story, some dark and mysterious, others mythical and magical. Scotland as a whole is an inspiring place to live as a storyteller. The land and the waters echo the songs and myths of the ancient Celts, and the towns and cities tell the stories of more recent times; the murderers and scoundrels, the poets and preachers, the kings and the queens.

Alice was great - we had a group of 9 - it was classic Scotland weather - a bit of drizzle off and on - and Alice rolled with it - a few minutes at the Story Telling Centre and then off we went. Lots of history and you can tell that she has a special love for her city. Thank you Alice for a great tour! Great way to tour Ednburgh!

For our first time visit in Edinburgh as a family with grown up kids, we booked a three hour tour with Alice: she is a great story-teller, we loved to learn about the secrets of Edinburgh. We had a very interesting and fun afternoon, Alice was warm and cheerful, we enjoyed every minute. Highly recommended Great experience

Alice was a great and very entertaining tourguide. The stories she told were definitely spooky and thats what we expected on the tour. You should really go for it and book it. But be aware: its not for the faint hearted:)Absolutely amazing

Out of our 14 day UK adventure our tour day with Alice was truly a highlight of the trip. She was fun, calm, not in a rush (critical with 2 young children), and super knowledgeable about the area. She is a captivating story teller and we felt as though we saw parts of Edinburgh that we would never have happened upon on our own. She was so patient with our group and very personable. Can't recommend her enough! Alice is THE BEST

Alice was a charming and knowledgeable guide and an absolutely brilliant storyteller. She really did a great job of noticing what interested us the most and focusing on those things more, but also introducing us to things we wouldn't have known about otherwise. Thanks again Alice!
