My name is Ana, and I welcome you to my beautiful city!

I'm an official tour guide from Granada, where I was born and raised. I would like to tell you a little more about myself so you can choose me as your next local guide.

I studied Art History at the University of Granada. Then I took a Master's in Production and Researched History and Fine Arts, so I have all the knowledge to show you this astonishing place.

During my university senior year, in 2014, I earned a scholarship and started working as a guide in a museum in the city center, there is where I learned most of my skills as a guide. It was also the time when I realized I would like to work as a tour guide, so I took up language lessons to apply for official accreditation.

When I finished my Master's, I took a gap year, so I could travel a little around before starting a full-time job.

I lived in Liguria, northern Italy, for a while, and also in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was a great experience, I learned a lot about other cultures, and made me improve my Italian and English. Then, I knew I was ready for the hard work.

Meanwhile, I started my Ph.D. and sometimes is tough working and studying at the same time, but I think of my thesis as my hobby, and is easier that way.

I have also written several articles about Granada, Alhambra, and the Christian period right after 1492, published in very important magazines.

When I have some free time I like to read, a lot. I am also a collector of rare and old books, which is one of my greatest passions. I do like traveling, and I have been to many places. One of the best things about being a guide in monuments like the Alhambra is that you have the opportunity to talk and share experiences with people from all over the world, and for me is a great enrichment. It's like traveling and being home.

My personality is calm and patient. I know how to manage difficult situations, and politeness is my main rule. But don't worry! I am not serious at all, you will see me always smiling.

Ana is the ideal guide for the Alhambra! Not only is she very knowledgeable, but she is personable and a lovely person to spend time with. She fielded not only all of our questions about what we were seeing, but also about Granada and culture.

We had a wonderful tour of the Alhambra with Ana. She has terrific historical and art-historical knowledge, excellent English and a lovely manner. Tour la Alhambra with an Art Historian – What Better Experience! Ana gave us an amazing tour of la Alhambra. There is no shortage of things to see or ground to cover. In 4 hours, though, Ana was able to take us to all of the main sights (Gardens, Summer palace, Nasrid Palaces, Charles V Palace, and the Alcazaba) without any of it ever feeling rushed. She was able to give us a wealth of information about the art, the history, and the art history. She was also deft at helping us avoid the crowds – which is no small feat in la Alhambra. Being an art historian herself – and a bit of a historian too, we suspect – Ana was able to make the history and the art come alive.
