Olá (hi) I'm Ângelo,

Born in Lisbon, but with a foot in several Portuguese cities throughout my life.

I am a sports psychologist, but tourism entered my life in 2010 and ended up becoming a true passion. I was the owner of a market-leading tour operator in Porto, Portugal for 8 years. I started a tourist accommodation business and COVID forced me to suspend this project and currently this is my fourth season as a "local host" for Withlocals Lisbon.

I fall in love with Lisbon every day: the unique light, the incredible viewpoints, the mix of cultures and the vibrant energy of the city fascinate me every day. It's people.

I am passionate about photography and a drone pilot, and Lisbon is a paradise for those who like to capture special moments.

Another thing I love? Food!

I am a true foodie and I believe that the best way to get to know a culture is through its cuisine, sitting at the table tasting authentic flavors and sharing stories.

I am a curious person, a world traveler and dedicated host; I like to welcome those who visit Lisbon and share little secrets that make all the difference to an authentic experience.

Ângelo is an outstanding guide. He is passionate about his country and his city and is eager to offer you historical context (complete with photos and videos on his iPad) about every place you go. His communication style is also great. He reached out the day we booked to get to know us and ask what we were looking for in a tour. He asked where we were staying and ultimately started the tour from the hotel, arriving 15 minutes early. He gave us dozens, and I mean dozens, of ideas of places to go or eat. And he gave us a super convenient methodology to avoid climbing one of Lisbon’s many hills, to get back to our hotel via a “shortcut.” I’d book another tour with him in an instant. The tour was booked for 3 hours but Ângelo asked if we minded going longer than that. We were enjoying chatting and walking so much that the time went fast - we ended up doing a 4.5 hour tour. We had a wonderful tour with Angelo! He was fun, friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the history and culture of all things Lisbon and Portugal. While it was a culinary tour, we learned so much about the culture, customs, and people of Lisbon. Highly recommend for anyone who likes food, good company and getting a glimpse off the beaten path into some of the neighbourhoods that make up this beautiful city. Great intro to Lisbon

Don't waste your time looking for anyone else. Angelo's tour was perfect. He prefers to think of it as a conversation among friends, strolling through the city, and enjoying authentic local food and drink along the way. He is very agreeable to adjusting the tour according to your preferences. When it comes time to say goodbye and end the tour, you feel like you are saying goodbye to an old friend. Highly recommend. We booked a tour with Angelo but it was at extremely short notice and with food restrictions which Angelo could not accommodate. At Angelo's request, in stepped Lucia! We were extremely fortunate for Luci to be able to accommodate us. She met us promptly and was very fluent in English. She took us to restaurants that we may never have tried on our own- we tried grilled Sardines and cod fish cutlets- the top staples and then took us walking through Alfama, Chiada and Bario alto (hope I spelled them right) pointing out historical sites and their histories. We tried some juices as we do not do alcohol. We tasted the famous pastels de Belem and then tried some other savory crepes. The tour lasted around 3.5 hours and we were very pleased with Lucia. This tour was enjoyable for its exposure to the local culture, food and punctuated with Lucia's commentary on the current state of Portuguese society and its promises for the future. Would recommend without reservation! Tips: 1. Book early and have more options especially with dietary restrictions. 2. People who drink alcohol and are comfortable with pork/ham products may find this tour more value for money than those who don't. 3. Lucia is awesome!:))Not for Angelo but for Lucia

Angelos knowledge of Portugal’s history, his command of the details, is really impressive, and fascinating to listen to, plus his ability to weave fun stories in and out of his narration. I would highly recommend Angelo for those of you who are history buffs and foodies!! Angelo was kind and very interested in making sure to tailor your tour exactly the way you want. A very fun day!Angelo’s the Best!

Angelo was an excellent guide. He taught us lots about Lisbon and Portuguese history as he introduced us to different neighbourhoods and interesting places. He also gives excellent tips on where to eat, and (other bookings permitting) is very generous with his time. It really felt like we were fortunate enough to have a good friend who lived in Lisbon and was showing us around so we had the best time. We can absolutely recommend him. From the get go, working with Angelo on planning our custom tour was easy and excellent. Communication was on point and Angelo really took his time to understand our needs and ensure he mapped out a great experience for us. On the day of our tour he was on time and pretty much spent the whole day with us showing us the sites and stopping along the way at various local restaurants and bakeries getting a real taste of Lisbon Portugués cuisine and local favorites. We opted for a sightseeing and food tasting type tour and I am happy to report that Angelo did an amazing job and went out of his way to ensure we had a great time. Angelo has a good grasp of Portuguese history and we learned a lot along the way. Towards the end of the day we were all basically friends which says a lot as he has a wonderful personality. So if you are planning a tour I can honestly say you cannot go wrong with Angelo. We will be reaching out to him again next time we are in Lisbon for sure! Our tour with Ângelo was amazing from start to finish! He has so much knowledge about the history of Lisbon and Portugal. We explored places of Lisbon that we never would have explored without him. The food and drink stops were great. Everything was hot and fresh and we didn't even have to wait in any lines. I will recommend this tour with Ângelo to anyone I know. Thank you!! I chose Angelo because the reviews showed he had a knowledge of history. When we travel we want to learn about the history along with having a great tour. Angelo gave us a great walking food tour along with an excellent lesson on the history of Lisbon. We walked into all the old neighborhoods between food stops and absorbed the culture and history in a fun way to learn. I highly recommend Angelo. We did this tour before boarding a cruise leaving Lisbon for the Western Med and his tour was a highlight!I love that I can pick my guide

To say that Ângelo went above and beyond would be an understatement. This was EASILY the best tour we have ever been on in all our travels. Ângelo was kind, attentive, knowledgeable and truly made us feel like we were traveling with a local. He showed us little ways we could avoid taking stairs (we actually very rarely walked uphill, which is surprising), gave us recommendations about great restaurants (and which ones we could skip), and shared the truly rich history of Portugal. He encouraged us to have a conversation, ask any questions, and made us feel like we really had a friend in the beautiful city of Lisbon :) he shared so much about this history of Lisbon — going back thousands of years all the way up to current times— and how the city and country have changed. This did not feel like a history lesson, however! He weaved stories beautifully into whatever we were talking about. Please see this as a sign to BOOK your tour with Ângelo! He is an absolute gem and this was a perfect and amazing tour. I would give him 100 stars if I could. Just BOOK with Ângelo
