As Josephine Baker once said: “I have two loves: my country and Paris.” In many ways, this resonates with me. Having arrived in France as an adult, I was struck by two things: the hedonism present in every gesture and the overwhelming abundance of history.
I had the opportunity to spend all of the pre-Covid and Covid periods between the Champs-Élysées and the Eiffel Tower, and I was one of the few who witnessed the fire at Notre-Dame even before it appeared on every screen across the globe.
In fact, I originally came to Paris to specialize in international relations, studying banking and finance to work in one of the Big Four firms. But as soon as I experienced the Parisian charm and magic that I had only read about in the works of Guy de Maupassant or seen in French films, I knew I had to change my life. For those who are curious, I did eventually earn my degree in economics and moved to Paris.
Thanks to my environment and a curious mind, I learned quickly and extensively, eventually gaining a new profession (and yes, in France, you need a formal qualification for every job). Most importantly, I felt that I had finally found the career of my life.
After 10 years of living in Paris and 6 years of experience as a tour guide, I love showing people around my city. The flexible format offered by WithLocals is ideal for tailoring each tour to the individual needs of my guests.
My favorite tours are of the Musée d'Orsay and Montmartre because I have personal and emotional ties to these periods and neighborhoods, and I believe you can find beauty in simplicity.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FAMILY TOURS: I do offer family tours with children, but I expect both parents and children to be respectful. As a mother and a teacher, I understand that learning can be challenging, especially while on vacation. But you need to ask yourself why you want a tour for your child. If you book with me, your child will learn new things, but you must explain some basic concepts before the tour. Also, please note that we will be WALKING. If you or your child are not prepared to walk more than 1 km, please DO NOT book a tour with me.
To sum up, if you're eager to learn about French and Parisian history, and this isn’t your first time (or even if it is), I’ll be happy to show you around the city in a fast-paced, captivating way where every minute is worth its value!
