In my life I experience art -music and painting- both in a theoretical and practical way, in order to be able to transmit the value, the beauty, the emotions of any work of art, as well as the atmosphere and life of any new place. I consider the awakening of perception as the main factor through which an artwork, a new place, a different country, can be appreciated, thus opening new doors of perception in the traveller, that's what a true traveller is looking for...! to join and participate in everyday life of the foreign city, and at the same time to catch the peculiarity that makes it fascinating and important.

I have a degree in Art Music Theatre and a PhD in Didactic of Art, and all the years of teaching experience in universities, schools and in painting workshops have strengthened my ability to present information enthusiastically and with empathy, whilst at the same time making it interesting and appealing to any kind of people.

As a Guide I keep the same purpose: establish a genuine personal interaction with travellers whether we are admiring art places, or tasting food and wine in typical spots in town, or even sharing a walk up on the hills around town.

Besides the traditional cultural, artistic and culinary tours of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna region, I specialise in music, leading tours to the Museum of Music, to violin makers ateliers and other musical events), and in modern/contemporary art collections, making them accessible to all. I can also organise and lead painting and drawing workshops: everybody can paint, even with no previous knowledge!

In Bologna we have an internationally well known Cineteca; I can lead a tour on the main places connected to movies in town and inside Cineteca where an appealing archive will show you the most important achievements of history and art.

Besides Bologna, I have also lived in Venice and in Milan. Life has taken me through Europe, the United States, India and as far as Antartica... breathtaking, another planet!

Very informative and well planned tour of Bologna- hitting all the top stops with many suggestions for more sights on our own. Barbara directed us to the best restaurant for lunch,, Simoni, for a platter of cold cuts that was the best ever- she also told us where not to go! Also, she suggested Santo Stefano a complex of churches that was incredible. Great tour!Chock full of Information!

Barbara was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and flexible. The day of our tour it was pouring rain and she was able to keep us mostly beneath porticos. At our request, we took a coffee break to warm up while she continued talking about Bologna’s fascinating history, all the while entertaining our questions. Highly recommended.Historical Bologna

Barbara was a terrific guide for us in Bologna. I wanted to experience areas that were significant in the Resistanza Italiana so we booked a custom tour. Barbara showed us excellent historic places and gave us much history and context to explain what we were looking at. I wish we could have spent more time with Barbara. I highly recommend her services. Thoughtful and engaging guide!!

We had a wonderful time on our tour of Ravenna with Eletta. We met her at the train station in Bologna and took the train with her to Ravenna. On the train, she explained Italian history and how it related to what we saw. She bought all the tickets in advance and we were able to quickly move through any lines to see the beautiful mosaics. Eletta is an art professor and an expert in art history. She explained all of the dazzling artwork. There is no way that we could have navigated all of the sites on our own in one day. We had a delicious lunch at the beautiful market. She kindly helped us order, as most of the servers did not speak English. She also stopped twice for us to have a cappuccino. Barbara did very well; rather a lot of building detail to begin with standing out in a cold wind but afterwards a fascinating trip of inner Bologna that we would not have known to be there. Loved it.An enjoyable and informative event.
