We loved our tour with Carlos. He was all the things you want a guide to be - warm, patient, friendly, articulate and extremely knowledgable. He took us to 4 spots and we thoroughly enjoyed them all. However, our favourite part of the tour was visiting the market - we tried so many things here that we never would have if not for Carlos! We loved that we were able to ask lots of questions about the ingredients and process for making things. As a local, Carlos is also friendly with individual stallholders so was able to tell us a little bit about their business and stories too. This made it even more special to eat their food. He also helped us buy some groceries, so we could continue the tasting tour when we got home. The were definitely more than 10 tastings and we left feeling very satisfied!! Would definitely recommend this tour if you are interested in Oaxaca's gastronomic highlights, and if possible, doing it at the beginning of your trip because you will definitely want to return to some of the places Carlos takes you to! Uncovering local foodie gems with Carlos!

We had a great time with Carlos, he gave us so much background on the city and the culture and the food! He took us to lovely spots run by locals and everything was unbelievable. Some truly unique and special spots. Carlos made sure there were vegetarian options for those of us that had dietary restrictions. We had a really great time and Carlos even went above and beyond and gave us recommendations for the rest of our trip as well. One person in our group has family in Oaxaca and even she learned and tasted new things! Highly recommend!The perfect tour!

We had a fabulous time from start to finish on our food tour with Carlos. He made us feel very welcome and answered all our questions as well as gave many, many other recommendations for cafes, bars, markets and street food which we explored over the following days. Being a vegetarian wasn’t a problem and all our taste buds were catered for from savoury to sweet, to fresh and unusual.
Conveniently, the food tour was around the neighbourhood we were staying in and thus we didn’t have far to venture to revisit some of the places we visited throughout the tour.
We highly recommend the tour for anyone keen to explore local cuisine and learn more about Oaxaca.

What a delightful and delicious first morning in Oaxaca. Carlos shared his passion for Oaxacan cuisine with our family and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved the street tacos, small local market where we ate tamales, tlayudas and drank tajete. We sampled exotic local fruit, sweets and even purchased mole to take home. We finished the tour with full tummies and lots of stories and knowledge about Oaxacan cuisine. It was perfect for us and our boys (12 and 10), the youngest who’s a little picky tried so many new flavours under Carlos gentle encouragement. Carlos is an absolutely great guide with a lot of knowledge of the traditional food and the local history. We had a wonderful time being guided through the city, tasting Tacos, Tamales, Tejate, local fruits and chocolate. He carefully selected the food we were able to taste due to food allergies. He also speaks fluent English so communication was very easy. In addition to tasting all the great food, he told us a lot about the Oaxacan culture and history. For our first day here, this was a great way of getting to know both the city and the local food better.A brilliant food experience

I was referred to Carlos by some friends who had done the tour last November. So glad I did it today. Carlos is not only super knowledgeable but he also really caters to the group. There were 4 of us and it was great. Starting with tamales from a local market to so many other delicious foods. Really happy I did this. Carlos also provided many other suggestions for the rest of my trip. Thank you. Great day. You will be very happy and full. Do it!

Carlos was an exceptional tour guide. He was very kind, easy to chat with, and had great recommendations for places to go and things to try for the remainder of our trip. He took the time to tell us about the history of the city and its culture as we walked between food stops, and the food that we tried was amazing. Carlos' "10 Tastings of Oaxaca" was the best food tour experience I've had to date. It was thoughtfully designed with a variety of tastes. He accommodated our dietary preferences/allergies and there was something for everyone in our group to enjoy.
We also learned so much about the history and culture of Oaxaca. Carlos expertly provided historical context as we walked through courtyards and along an aqueduct on our way to our next bite.
It was the perfect way to begin our trip to Oaxaca and I cannot recommend Carlos enough!Book This Tour!
