I grew up in a frigid tundra called Toronto, Canada. It was there where I completed two bachelor's degrees, one in history and one in neurobiology. After working for sometime in the city I felt like it was time to travel and say goodbye to -40 degree winters. Having been forced by my parents to learn piano since I was 6, I eventually realized a love for music and eventually history. I've been living in Berlin for over 9 years now, taking people around the incredible sights and sounds of my adoptive favorite city in the world. We wanted a tour focused on history, particularly the Third Reich, to engage our teen children - we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. This could have been dry and/or depressing. However, Chris is exceptionally well read/rounded/grounded/versed in history & politics. He is witty, intelligent and genial, combined with his balanced nature, this makes him the perfect tour guide for engaging persons of any age group, including my partner and I (both keen historians) and our teens. He has such a great understanding of different cultural norms that make him relatable to many different types of people and ages. He was particularly great at interacting with and being encouraging of our children’s learning of not just the Third Reich, but also the Cold War and Germany’s pre 20th century history. We provided him with a long list of places we wanted to cover and he skilfully wove it all together and covered most of it (it was an ambitious list and there were issues with trains so we managed to cover everything on foot). The price was reasonable generally given its quality and with it being a private tour for just the 4 of us. I rated it 10 for value due to Chris easily being fully worth this and more. Chris also recommended some cool exhibits, bookshop, eateries and vintage stores to assist us to plan the rest of our stay. Thank you so much for making our trip Chris!11/10 - The Best Guide!

Amazing beginning to learn about Berlin history … Chris was very knowledgeable and great to learn about history of Berlin . He was very helpful in planning out the rest of our trip .. highly recommend the tour and Chris as a guide !! Great start to berlin

We did a tour with Chris on our first day in Berlin and it was exactly what I’d hoped for. Chris was an excellent guide, taking us to many of the key sights and explaining their significance and sharing plenty of fascinating stories too. We had our kids (11 & 8) with us and they really appreciated how he explained some of the history and the stories too. He was also able to give us a few recommendations for the rest of our trip, which we’ve followed up on and not been disappointed! We’ve used Withlocals numerous times, and Chris was one of the best. The tour was fun and we learnt a lot. Many interesting facts, fun anecdotes and rich history. Chris was a very friendly and entertaining guide. He was cleary passionate and had endless knowledge about the history of the camp and even more anecdotes. His way of explaining made history come alive. We learned a lot and had a nice day! Totally worth it!

To put it bluntly, Chris was f***ing awesome! Punctual, friendly, funny, with an endless bounty of interesting information and stories about the region's history. Extremely knowledgeable and despite barraging him with questions, he always gave insightful and thoughtful answers. Taking the tour of Sachsenhausen with Chris gave us the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the culture of the era and how it led to the events and atrocities that unfolded. Thank you so much for giving us such an enriching and amazing experience Chris! Couldn't have asked for a better guide! :D
