She showed us around the main downtown sites of Merida and the very large public market which helped to get us oriented. We speak and understand some Spanish, so the tour worked out well for us. Claudia is a fine guide for tourists who understand some Spanish, Claudia is very sweet.

Sadly this tour didn’t meet our expectations based on the detail of the booking. Claudia was sweet and accommodating to a last minute request to add an additional person to our booking. The tour was very rushed and we finished in just over an hour, compared to the 3 hours it was marketed as. We didn’t explore any of the sites in Merida of cultural significance, rather we stayed in a small area and moved quickly between places. Sadly Claudia’s English was not good enough to properly allow us to learn about Merida and all the food we were trying (we learnt some things but had questions she couldn’t answer). The food we tried was good and definitely from places we couldn’t have gone to without a local showing us but as the food was very cheap compared to the price of the tour we didn’t feel like we’d got value for money. Unfortunately didn’t meet expectations

Claudia is a wonderful, knowledgeable, and so kind. I wish I would’ve started my trip with Claudia first. We started at the Merida City Museum, which is perfect to get the basic history of Merida; the AC was nice too. Went to an authentic market, where the people are living their daily lives. I really enjoyed people watching in the market. Did a tour of the House of Montejo. Ended the tour with a Mamey (local fruit) sorbet and great conversation about her family. This was my first time using WithLocals and because of Claudia, I will likely use it in other countries. This was the best part of my trip. Merida is a beautiful city, with unbelievably kind people. Claudia was fabulous. Communication before hand was timely and she was right on time to our meet up. She took the time to ask what I wanted from our tour, there really is so much to see in Merida. She crafted the perfect morning, taking into account what I asked and adding perfect details along the way. Remembering that English is her second language allowed me to be even more impressed with her conversation and information. If you are looking for a great walking tour that really is about what you want, I would recommend Claudia every time. A++A great time!
