We’ve taken 50+ tours over the years and there are many very good tour guides and a few who should do something else for a living but on rare occasions you find someone who truly has found their calling and Helena is one of those tour guides. My daughter & I wished to see what Amsterdam is known for (not the museums..we did that too) but we felt strange as two women alone exploring the sex and drug trade. Helena was super friendly, extremely knowledgeable and showed us the good, bad & the ugly up close but also highlighted so many topics related to the prime topic … it was like we were having our own private master class where she explained and answered even our most ridiculous and curious questions all the while expanding the tour to include many current & historical facts. She is that rare gem of what a tour guide should strive to be…first class! We absolutely LOVED our tour! Helena is an AWESOME tour guide!
Nice local tour, highlights of the city come alive with Helena's narrative! All over the city!
Helena took me on an amazing tour of the Dock and the shipbuilding company which closed down in 1978. Very talented artists have painted graffiti on the walls. I wanted to experience Amsterdam as the citizens do. Helena took me on the Metro, the ferry and the bus. It was wonderful!Delightful Off the Beaten Track Tour
We had a great walking tour with Helena. She created a bespoke itinerary for our group as we’d already visited the city before and wanted to see a different side. She took us to places we would never have found on our own and we really felt like we got an insiders view. She was super relaxed, knowledgeable and friendly and made it a fun and informative afternoon. Highly recommend! Thanks Helena!Great Bespoke Tour
Thank you Helena for our tour of Amsterdam. I asked for a “snapshot” half day tour and Helena delivered. Showing us highlights that we could explore later in detail, she was friendly and knowledgeable and was able to adapt to accommodate my husband who was experiencing some issues with his back when we were in town. She also gave me recommendations for other places to explore and restaurants we might like. A Lovely Day In Amsterdam
Helena was a wonderful guide. She knew a lot about life in Netherlands and Amsterdam. We did a very nice tour of the city with her a she absolutely went far beyond what was expected from it. She kept going as long as we could handle the walk (which we did). She stayed with us longer a showed us some hidden gems and delicacies of the city that only a local would know. She loves what she does and this helps the experience a lot. I can not recommend more knowing this beautiful city with Helena, you will not regret if you do decide to visit Amsterdam. Thanks Helena.
Wonderful person and knowledgeable guide.
After more than 60 cruises, we have done our share of excursions. The private tour with Helene was the best- but it did not feel like an excursion. It was simply seeing the sights and enjoying the town with a friend. At least, it felt that way. Helene knew so much history, architecture…. And was absolutely amazing.Best Day Ever
We spent a great time with Helena. We walked all over Amsterdam and Helena shared so much about Amsterdam and its history. She took us into hidden communities and a church that you would never know was there as only a local could. She took us to the absolutely best place for a piece of amazing apple pie and to one of the oldest bakeries for a stroopwafel.
We covered so many interesting neighbourhoods and she spent more than the 3 hours we had booked. Helena was great with restaurant recommendations too so we could make reservations ahead and not be disappointed.
I would highly recommend that you book a walking tour with Helena!Helena shares Amsterdam
Our time with Helena was the highlight of our trip! She is so knowledgeable, loved learning the history, culture and hidden gems from a local. We stopped for lunch at a great deli. Will tour with her again when coming back as there is so much more to see and do!! Best Day in Amsterdam!!
Been to Amsterdam many times but this was certainly different!
We wanted to make sure our visit would be appreciated by our grandson (5 1/2). Well, he loved it and had a lot of fun with Helena, her child-friendly initiatives and her fluent French (his native language). But frankly, we were equally impressed.
We thought we knew this city. But we had never looked behind the facade of its many beautiful houses and palaces. As we strolled along the canals, nearly every building, door or window would reveal some fascinating story, a hidden garden, an unexpected detail or a delicious peace of home-made appeltaart!
For the very first time in many years we can say: yes, we've been to Amsterdam. Really.Child friendly AND amazing value for all
