Hugo

I am a French art historian. I was born and raised in the Latin Quarter of Paris. I studied in both New York and Paris, where I got my PhD in the History of Art in 2023 at the Sorbonne University. My Thesis examined french landscape paintings from the 17th century.

In 2017, I obtained the Guide License provided by the Ministere de la Culture, and I have organized tours in the most important parisian museums (Louvre, Orsay, Pompidou, Versailles, Notre Dame, Orangerie. . . ). I have and continue to work at the Louvre directly with the curators and I often write exhibition catalogues and essays. I am always eager to share my passion with foreign visitors.

Hugo made the experience very enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the Louvre. We had a two-hour tour with him where we explored all the Louvre highlights. For a more detailed tour you definitely need a longer tour. For sure I highly recommend the experience and it is worth the price. Thank you Hugo Highlight of the trip

We picked Hugo because of his educational background and he did not disappoint. He can tell you unique details about the paintings; and the history surrounding the painting. Also… ask him about his book… very interesting Amazing tour from amazing guide.

I organized this tour of the Musee D'Orsay for a group of 6 college students. They loved every minute of it and was a highlight of their 4 days in Paris. We hired Hugo for a tour of the Louvre in January 2024 and found him to be extremely knowledgeable, very interesting, funny, and just a bit irreverent in the best possible way. This January we had friends visiting with us and since we had such a great experience the year before, we hired Hugo again. All of our friends agreed, Hugo makes such a large museum as the Louvre completely approachable, covers all the highlights with wonderful anecdotes and histories and leaves you at the end of the tour with insights and a plan for the remainder of your museum visit. The next time we go to the Louvre, we'll hire Hugo again ... and you should too!Hugo's so fantastic, we've hired him twice

Our family (2 adults and 2 kids, 6 and 11 yo) had a tour with Hugo around Louvre. It was very both, insightful and entertaining, for all of us. We managed to see all the Louvre's hits and avoid the crowds. I will definitely recommend Hugo!Excellent tour!

My family (3 adults and 2 children) visited the Musee d’Orsay with Hugo as our guide. I can’t say enough good things about him. His explanation of the art and the historic building were fascinating. Not only was the tour great for the adults, he really related to the children. I wholeheartedly recommend Hugo.Best tour ever.

The Louvre would be an overwhelming experience without someone who knows how to navigate it. But there’s a difference between just taking a tour and having an experience. Hugo captivated us with his passion for the museum, his stories about the artists and his explanations of what is being depicted in the art. I simply cannot imagine a better way to be introduced to the Louvre than by someone who was educated there and who so clearly loves it. Extraordinary
