Hello!

New York is one of the great cities of the world, and I love showing off its history, buildings, stories, and secrets—including New Yorkers' favorite places to dine, drink, shop, and relax. Ever since I moved here 30 years ago, I've been leading intimate tours for family, friends, and now for visitors like you as a licensed New York City tour guide.

A little more about me: I am an educator and event planner by training, so my job and passion are to create exciting and meaningful experiences for you and your group to learn about the city and why it is so incredible. I've lived in many New York neighborhoods, been a student at NYU, written books, taught at Columbia University, spent time with celebrities, and lived through 9/11—all of which enrich my knowledge of New York's unique culture, customs, and craziness.

My Focus:

Greenwich Village has been home for most of my New York life, so I lead lots of tours in this popular neighborhood that includes Washington Square, Christopher Street, Little Island, and the Meatpacking District.

Another favorite place for tours is Central Park. It is an engineering and environmental marvel, and New York would be unlivable without it. We also have many other beautiful parks which are great launchpads for learning about and discovering the areas of the city that surround them.

And then there's the magnificent Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, the reborn World Trade Center, 9/11 Memorial, and many other famous places in between that will give you an understanding and sense of New York then and now.

Jordan guided us through a deep dive into the West Village and its history as a completely singular neighborhood (*his* neighborhood!). We got the granular details as well as big picture context (northward movement of the wealthy, deliberate architectural changes to buildings to attract artists--imagine that happening today!--the role of neighborhood activists, and the rural past explaining the ungridlike configuration of many streets). He was kind enough to incorporate a couple of midtown things I'd requested, a particular mural in Grand Central, and the glorious Chrysler Building, before delivering us to the madhouse of the theater district for our matinee. The tour was over too soon--highly recommended!Insider perspective

A great day in NYC with Jordan. He put a lot of effort into getting us to the tourist spots that we had requested, but also to the sites and areas that make New York City what it is. The different boroughs, with a stop at a nice Italian restaurant in Greenwich Village, time on the subway and many more places of interest, finishing the day in Central Park. Jordan also provided us some great restaurant recommendations for afterwards.A Great Day in NYC

We had OUTSTANDING tours with Jordan while in NYC. Five reasons to hire Jordan for an New York City tour: 1. We were a group of 7, ranging in age from 28 to 61. He asked our interests and met our requests to see some of the more common tourist attractions as well as some of the more interesting and less touristy locations in New York. 2. He was flexible and able to work within our schedules. 3. He assisted us in which trains to take to meet up locations and other activities we had planned. 4. Jordan is a wealth of knowledge and was able to answer our questions and provide interesting facts about the city. 5. He gave us recommendations for places to eat and other places to visit. Our tour with Jordan was fabulous! He was very responsive prior to our meet-up and reminded us of the NY Marathon happening that day which was helpful for navigating our way to our meeting spot. We LOVED his tour of Greenwich Village. He knew so much about the history dating back to the 1600s and through the centuries and the last few decades. The streets of Greenwich are so charming, a really fun tour. We will take another tour with Jordan next time through Central Park and other areas he knows well.Fabulous!

Jordan was a great tour guide and was very knowledgeable about all things NYC. Looking for a guide in NYC? Jordan is your man. We spent four days with Jordan--a punctual, knowledgeable, thoughtful man--who clearly loves his city. He led us to many of the obvious spots--for example, Ground Zero--but we also followed roads less traveled to Harlem, hidden spots in Central Park, street art and wall murals in Brooklyn, and the J.P. Morgan library (for those who have read The Personal Librarian). Jordan is ever prepared, unfailingly flexible—always making sure he met our needs. One expects guides to know dates, facts, and histories--and Jordan surely does. But what distinguishes Jordan is his unreserved openness. As we meandered about NYC, we thoroughly appreciated his willingness to candidly discuss the tests of life in New York, what underlies the New York state of mind, the source of the city’s swagger.
