We had the pleasure of experiencing the 10 tastings tour with Kemal. He was very flexible in the meeting place, which made the tour start on a very good note. We traveled on the subway (2nd oldest I understand in the world) and enjoyed several stops, including coffee of course and quince dessert and wonderful wine stop. He gave excellent advice on shopping along the way itself and made us feel safe the entire tour through the busy streets. Would recommend indeed for future tours... Kemal and Istanbul - a good match

Let me start by saying that it may have been an off day for our guide. He seemed a bit tired and said he had had a lot of work that day. Rather than compare the experience to what we might have expected, I'll compare it here simply to two recent experiences with food guides through WithLocals, one in Taipei and one in Prague. We had expected that the sites would be pre-selected and organized. They were not. We did not seem to be expected, seats were not reserved and the food had not been pre-ordered. We had expected that the sites would be local and unique yet one was a chain. The owners and wait staff did not always seem to know the guide. The food was not necessarily unique (a lot of chicken) to Turkey and the provenance rarely explained. The guide offered a couple of times to cut the tour short if we didn't want to walk or preferred to shop but that was not our intent. One our final night we had the ten-item tasting menu at a restaurant. Each dish was introduced, where it originated and how it was cooked. We remarked that this was what we had hoped the food tour would be. A lost opportunity. We still tipped the guide 20% as he made clear that he was saving for a house, caring for aging parents and working two jobs. TMI.Great Potential. Less Delivery.

Kemal joined our evening cruise and helped us to get a great view of Istanbul from the sea. His Chinese was great and the complete group was happy to have him with us. Highly recommended! Yacht tour with dinner

Kemal showed us some great local food spots around Kadiköy. We had 6 stops and tried some dishes we wouldn’t have found by ourselves. Everything was very tasty! We also had a drinks stop at the pub to finish and had a fantastic time learning about Turkey through the eyes of a local. Thanks Kemal, we had a great time!Thank you Kemal!!

Kemal introduced our group of 4 to areas in Istanbul after sunset that we never wouldn’t have known about. He was very knowledgeable about Turkish customs and location histories. A perfect gentleman, he made us feel safe and in good hands. His personal history is fascinating too. You can’t go wrong with Kemal as your guide. Only complaint was that we didn’t have more tours with him! Perfect evening with Kemal

I had a great time doing the jewelry making course. It takes place in a little atelier above a small artisan complex with also houses ceramists. Ifram, the goldsmith, was kind enough to help demonstrate his tools while making one of my ideas come to life. I was able to use a scroll saw, the steam cleaning device, and the polishing wheel, he did any required soldering. He had some interesting tools I had never seen before, such as the aforementioned steam device, as well as the smallest torch I had ever seen. It was a lovely afternoon just enjoying their company, making something cool, and enjoying wine and snacks. The price of the silver was not included in the cost of the class, a fact that Kemal had for warned me about ahead of time, so there were no surprises.Jewelry Course

We had the best time exploring Istanbul with our guide, Kemal. He took us to some truly unique spots that we never would’ve found on our own and shared so much interesting insight into the history and culture of the city. Kemal was incredibly friendly, easy to talk to, and made the entire experience feel relaxed and engaging. The tour flew by because we were having so much fun. Kemal is a confident, cosmopolitan guy who takes pride is making sure you have a great day out. He's quick to build rapport and seems to build lasting friendships with many of his tour groups. It is impressive how quickly he could customise the itinerary based on the weather, season and your preferences - he truly knows Taksim's food scene very well. His standard route for 10 Tastings of Istanbul is through Taksim, focusing on classic street food from mainstream chains. He also spontaneously worked in the chance to try Turkish wine at a nice place in Pera, and a delicious quince dessert which would otherwise be easy to miss. If you want exposure to more inventive regional cuisine, it would be worth discussing the itinerary in detail in advance. No matter what, there's no avoiding how meaty Turkish cuisine is, so considering the timing of the tour carefully and don't plan it eat much before and after this tour!10 Tastings of Istanbul with Kemal

Kemal je apsolutno fantastičan vodič – strastven, informiran i nevjerojatno gostoljubiv! Proveo nas je kroz skrivene kutke Istanbula koje sami nikad ne bismo pronašli, od lokalnih taverni do skrivenih vidikovaca s predivnim pogledom. Uživali smo u pravim "hidden gems" mjestima, daleko od turističkih gužvi, gdje smo osjetili pravi duh grada. Uz to, počastio nas je vrhunskim vinom i podijelio sjajne preporuke za restorane, barove i mjesta s autentičnom glazbom. Kemal gave us a good insight of the nightlife of Istanbul. When he heard we were eager to try local specialities he brought us to the nicest locations. We had a "baklava" (should not be called like that) it was the best we ever had... Then this was followed by a fish sandwich, wine and he knew so much of the history, nice streets etc. Time went by so quick. We would definitely recommend him to everyone. Fantastic evening with lots of surprises
