Hi everyone :)

My name is Lisa, and I am originally from Germany. In 2016, I came to Penang Island as a traveler, fell in love with the culture, food and lifestyle, and decided to stay. I enjoy cooking, especially local food, which I sell in my small café with my husband. In the past, I taught travelers how to cook local curries and Malaysian sweets, following the recipes of my husband's Malaysian family. I am looking forward to showing you the specialty of Penang Island and giving you some insights into how it is to live in Malaysia as a foreigner 🌺🇲🇾

Die Food Tour mit Lisa hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Wir waren 7 Personen und alle waren sehr zufrieden. Vorab hat sich Lisa nach unseren Vorlieben erkundigt und Sie hat eine tolle Auswahl an lokalen Speisen ausgesucht. Die Informationen zur Stadt und zum Leben in Penang waren sehr interessant. Penang is for sure one of the most fascinating food places in Asia and Lisa will help you to discover and appreciate it to the fullest. We spent 3 hours with her roaming foodie places in atmospheric George Town, from Malay to Indian to Chinese delicacies discussing culture and everyday life in Penang. Our booking through Withlocals started off poorly as the original guide (Sam) just cancelled on us. No explanation. No apologies. On reflection this turned out for the best. We rebooked this time with Lisa who was fantastic. Knowledgeable, kind, friendly and just great company for the three plus hours. She took us to some great places where we were able to sample generous portions of local foods that many people were waiting in line for. Chinese, Malay and Indian foods all of which were tasty and filling. Thanks Lisa! Lisa gave us a fantastic food tasting tour

We thoroughly enjoyed our Street Food tour with Lisa and would highly recommend it! She was very friendly and so knowledgeable about food. She knew the best places to go to and made us try so many dishes and drinks we would not have otherwise. Time flew by and we can’t thank her enough for this amazing and very tasty tour! We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Lisa. It was very interesting walking around and tasting all that Georgetown has to offer. It was especially interesting seeing Penang through Lisa’s eyes, she came as a backpacker and has married a Malay and totally integrated into local life. Wir haben eine Foodtour bei Lisa gebucht und waren begeistert! Wir waren insgesamt sieben Personen mit zwei Kinder (4 und 5 Jahre alt) und uns allen hat es gefallen. Lisa hat uns die verschiedenen Küchen gezeigt und es war total abwechslungsreich, genau wie wir es uns vorgestellt haben, Gerichte die wir selber nie bestellt hätten. Es war total entspannt, Lisa strahlt eine Ruhe aus und erklärt alles ganz genau. Wir können es jedem empfehlen 👍Ein toller, kulinarischer Nachmittag

Wir haben uns als Familie bei der Tour sehr wohl gefühlt. Lisa hat es geschafft, nicht nur uns Erwachsene, sondern auch die Kinder abzuholen und damit uns allen einen unbeschreiblich schönen Einstieg in unseren Aufenthalt auf der Insel zu schenken. Das Essen war wundervoll ausgesucht und abwechslungsreich- in Konsistenzen, Gewürzen und Aromen. Außerdem hat Lisa uns unseren zahlreichen und vielschichtigen Fragen zu Land & Leuten mit ganz viel Ruhe und Geduld beantwortet, sodass wir das Land nun nicht nur kulinarisch besser kennen. Absolutely the best thing we did in Georgetown. Lisa was super lovely; very personable, easy to talk to, and incredibly knowledgeable. We tried delicious food we definitely wouldn't have even considered otherwise, and learned a lot about the food culture in Penang. The 3 hour tour flew by. I can't recommend it enough.
