Hi everyone :)
My name is Lisa, and I am originally from Germany. In 2016, I came to Penang Island as a traveler, fell in love with the culture, food and lifestyle, and decided to stay. I enjoy cooking, especially local food, which I sell in my small café with my husband. In the past, I taught travelers how to cook local curries and Malaysian sweets, following the recipes of my husband's Malaysian family. I am looking forward to showing you the specialty of Penang Island and giving you some insights into how it is to live in Malaysia as a foreigner 🌺🇲🇾

Our tour was with Lisa, whos a local in Penang and it shows. She not only knows a lot about the food but also the city and its culture and people on the streets know her as well!
Our tour took longer then planned but more because we were having a bless. With Lisa it felt like we were with a friend on tour and we would recommend it to everybody! Very very nice tour!

My sons and I have a wonderful evening with Lisa.
Lisa showed us around, tasting various local food, she is very knowledgeable of the local areas, cultures and food. If it weren’t for her, we would have missed out on quite a few lovely snacks.
Lisa goes out of her way to make walking around interesting. She is so friendly and such a joy to talk to, my boys and I had so much fun and laughs. And our bellies were full with yummy food.
We highly recommended Lisa!

We are a group of 4 from the UK and had the absolute best time with Lisa on her food tour. She stuffed us full of amazing food, and took us to some local stalls we would have never tried if not for her. I would 100% recommend Lisa’s tour if you are in Penang and want to have an experience that you will never forget! Lisa is fantastic!

Before booking the tour I was already in contact with Lisa regarding the options of the tour, as my boyfriend has a knee injury and is unable to walk for hours. Lisa assured me that with a few adjustments to the tour this would not be a problem. The tour was a private tour and Lisa did a fantastic job, she told us many stores about the food, the eating customs in Penang and we had great food. She arranged that we could sit at various places and enjoy the food, the distance of walging was no issue at all. We tried many different foods and drinks at places that normally you might pass by (as you do not know what it is they are selling). The last stop was at the night market with again maby things to try. We were stuffed afterwards, so we walked shortly afterwards before returning to our hotel fulfilled with a great experience. I highly recommend Lisa’s food tour. We really enjoyed every minute of it and Lisa is very knowledgeable about the local food and the region. The samosas we ate were the best ones we have ever tried! We did the tour with 2 young kids and Lisa adjusted her pace and kindly offered drinks to our toddler. She is a wonderful guide and I highly recommend her!Amazing experience

We very much enjoyed our tour with Lisa. We visited places and enjoyed food we would never have found on our own. I very much appreciated walking and talking with Lisa also about Georgetown and the many cultures and food that make this fascinating city. Loved every minute and highly recommend Lisa. Our tour with Lisa was absolutely brilliant. She took us to a mix of different street food stalls and restaurants, and ordered us incredible dishes that showed the many cultures, flavours and ingredients of Penang. We learned a lot from Lisa about the food, the town, the history and also about life and the restaurant business in Penang. And we ate lots of delicious food - great selections, well paced and just the right amount of food! Lisa was great company, easy to talk to and lovely to hang out with for a few hours. Thank you Lisa - cannot recommend your tour highly enough!The best experience!

Lisa was a wonderful and knowledgable guide who showed us local food spots that we never would have discovered on our own! Our three kids - ages six to ten - enjoyed the outing very much as Lisa made sure to add and enough pit stops for sweets. And the adults got to enjoy some true delicacies and learned a lot about local culture. Added plus: Our vegetarians were also happy as we had tons of alternatives to meat and seafood dishes. Lastly for the kids it was great to have a German-speaking guide. Thanks again, Lisa, for the awesome experience!Amazing tour with our lovely German guide

We really enjoyed our tour. Many of the spots Lisa took us to weren't on our radar. Lisa did an excellent job in describing the process of making many of the dishes. I believe she tailored our tour to not overlap our other Malaysian food experiences. Lisa was very engaging.Explore Penang off the beaten track food

There's not enough words to describe how much I enjoyed my tour with Lisa. Firstly, Lisa is a fantastic tour guide who really caters the experience to the person. Whilst, we did avoid the things I often don't enjoy, she did encourage me to try things that I would not normally ever buy. This gives you a more in-depth understanding of the food and what locals eat. If you're interested in culture and a foreigners perspective of living in Penang I highly recommend Lisa. This is my seventh visit to Penang and in one tour I learnt a lot more than six visits combined. Thank you Lisa!Unique perspective of Penang.
