My wife and I had a truly lovely night out with Luis on a casual foodie tour of some of his favorite locals-only-would-know places. He is a thoroughly enjoyable guide and clearly loves his hometown. We rambled all over Old Porto, stopping at three places wheee he knew the owners and just what to order. It was all delicious. We had asked for a tour like this — informal and deeply local, prioritizing the kind of places we visitors would not have known to stop in. At one bar where we had great crusty sandwiches and a special Douro sparkling wine served from a tap in beer glasses, I also asked for a bottle of water and the owner promptly rang the “bell of shame.” All in good fun and we recommend this tour with Luis enthusiastically!Wonderful Evening with Luis in Porto!
Luis was the absolute best guide we could have asked for. From the moment we shook hands, there was an instant rapport, and that excellent start to our day only got better as we explored the Duoro valley with him. Luis is so friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and he was always looking out for us and making sure we had a great time. He was flexible in accommodating our special requests, and even when we went overtime, he did not rush us at all. It was an incredible experience from start to finish, and we are so grateful to have met him. We would give him 100 hearts if we could! A most excellent day with Luis
If we could rate this higher than 10 we would. We didn’t really know what to expect when we booked this tour with Luis but we knew we like beer and have done a fair amount of brewery tours over the years. This was nothing like anything we have done before! Luis and Antonio were a lot of fun and gave us a really personal experience of the work they do and the life of the brewery. We had a great time and would 100% book another experience with Luis next time we are in Porto.
The beer was fantastic too! Some of the best imperial stouts we have had.Truly Unique Experience
Luis is a fantastic tour guide! He provided a detailed tour and very enjoyable day in the Douro Valley. He gave lots of information about the region, and the wines produced there, but was equally happy to discuss all aspects of life in Portugal. He arranged some special, personal touches throughout the day; a special place for lunch, for example. He is relaxed, amiable and makes sure you never feel rushed. Would highly recommend him if you are looking for a tour guide in Porto!Excellent Douro Valley Tour.
Our group of 7 had an amazing Porto walk with Luis on our first night to Portugal! It was like waking with a good friend we haven’t seen in a while. Luis was super knowledgeable about the city, very fun and friendly, and was excited to share his love for food and Porto with us. He tailored the tour to our needs and pace, so everyone felt comfortable. We would highly recommend Luis to get a taste of Porto and its welcoming and friendly people. Thank you Luis! AMAZING welcome to Portugal!
It was a pleasure to spend time with Luis. Luis was welcoming and very friendly. He read our style and requirements perfectly. Luis talked through some interesting local information and walked us around to some fantastic places - with some lovely people - all off the beaten track. Nothing felt rushed and we came home having had a great and authentic experience. We would highly recommend doing this tour with Luis if you are ever in Porto Relaxed - Knowledgeable - Friendly tour
First off, the 2-star review that was given by another reviewer is very misleading. We did this tour with Luis and it was so much more than a food tour. It was a true insight and and peek into the life and culture of Porto. Luis really knows the history of his city and is so proud to show it off. We saw so much in 3 hours that we would not have possibly discovered unless shown by a local. It was truly a highlight of our 5-day stay in Porto. Plus we got to try some lovely food, wine and liquors and received many more recommendations of where to eat and drink during the rest of our stay. Don't hesitate to book this tour. Thank you Luis!A most authentic and eye-opening tour
We have used with locals many times for food tours and have always enjoyed them. However on this occasion whilst Luis was a very pleasant person with some interesting facts and information , we really had very little in the way of a food experience. A prosciutto sandwich, 2 types of tapas and a pork sandwich. We really felt underwhelmed by the small amount of food and narrow variety we tasted - not even a fransecinha ,Pastéis de Nata, octopus, salted cod etc which we discovered for ourselves. We only had one drink, one sandwich and the tapas included in the price (we were aware we had to pay for the rest but it is not the usual with locals way) so didn’t feel like value for money.
Luis did explain about the fransecinha and where to buy them and gave some ideas of areas to visit but definitely overall a disappointing tour.A Food tour with vwry little food
Luis took us with for a great walk through 3 fantastic nice places where we got history and tasted good food and drinks/wine from locals bars/restaurants
We was 19 from Norway and we all loved it . He know so much about his city and history that this trip was highlight of our 5 days stay in Porto. Everything was great and we all got alittle tipsy 😄 worth every penny . What an fantastic experience with Luis
What a wonderful tour we had. Luis is friendly, sociable and has a nice sense of humor. He takes his time and takes you to places you would not easily visit. We won't soon forget this tour!Perfect tour
