Overall the day was fine. Our first impression of our guide was a bit brash. He may have been put off by Americans... Immediately he made a comment about my greeting with him saying something to the effect that I was loud - an American. It has been a while so I am unable to find his exact words. Over time he did warm to us. We were an eclectic group with varied backgrounds and ethnicities. 6 women/friends from Spain, UK, and the USA. Religions included Baptist, Christian, Muslim, and Jewish creating a diverse knowledge of the world and very open minds. Some well traveled, others not with the age ranging from 28-60. While the tour was interesting it didn't feel as if it matched the itinerary/description or maybe the interpretation was wrong. We learned some interesting history. A fair amount about the seedy side of Athens inclusive of the sexual exploits both accepted and not accepted, the markets with antiquities, street art, and so forth. Again interesting and chock full of details but my (I organized the tour) interpretation of the description was very off. We had also hoped to see some of the local artists "with off the beaten track" shopping - but unique, not mass produced. Overall it was good but the first impression being corrected for my loud american "warm" hello was off-putting and therefore maybe it tainted my impression. Though I did warm to him and might I say he to me when he realized that I had substance, traveled, enjoyed local history of all kinds, and was not as loud and shallow as he may perceive Americans to be.Sounded amazing, a bit of a let down

Manos was overall very knowledgeable about mythology, history and Athens. He engaged well with each of our group. We had a tailored tour that lasted all day, which in hindsight was a bit long for us. A few more stops in the afternoon would have been good to break up some of the walking. Manos was very caring with us when it came to traffic and safety of our belongings, he was also patient and funny. We had a great time thanks heaps Manos.Balance and beauty

Manos is a very nice guy, very knowledgeable about the city’s neighborhoods and history. His English is perfect. However, the tastings were meager and not very interesting. We did not come close to the 10 tastings promised in the listing. We walked through the meat and seafood market to observe but were not offered any tastings. Two of the tastings were coffee. The last stop for lunch was a random souvlaki sandwich place with no explanation as to why he selected that place over the multitude of others in the city. One of the stops was a very nice shop with local ingredients where we had an olive oil tasting. There was, however, no information at all as to why this olive oil was selected or how to differentiate between the many varieties. All in all, Manos did not seem to know much about the local food scene. The tour lasted just a little over 2 hours. Compared to the many food tours we have taken in other cities, this one was a disappointment. Not enough food

Manos was a great tour guide for the food tour, not just showing us the great flavours of Athens but giving us a view of the real Athens, bringing the city to life with stories and explanations of the neighbourhoods we were walking through. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a tour with Manos. Amazing personal tour

This tour was an absolute treat. We were immersed in the ways of the locals with Manos. No slick touristy jargon just authentic Greek vibes. His knowledge of his home city and of Greece overall seemed limitless. We traveled around the coast and saw gorgeous beaches and ate at two brilliant but different restaurants. An upscale place with a view to die for, and a seaside tavern with amazing fresh food. Manos was super patient with our many and varied questions about history, culture, politics, life as a local, and it was interesting comparing Greece to our home New Zealand.Local local local!

I started my first visit to Athens with the tour Off the Beaten Track. Manos is very knowledgable and easy to deal with and guided me through back streets in the heart of Athens I would have probably missed. He explained a lot about the daily life in Athens, showed me flea markets, street art and interesting buildings. We walked through Monastiraki, Psiri and Metaxourgeio. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see another side of Athens - apart from the main tourist attractions.Discover Athens off the beaten Track

The tour was good but not outstanding. We tasted the expected olives, nuts, souvlaki, pitas, etc. All of which are foods we already tried. I was expecting a bit more diversity and uniqueness in the “tastings”. Athenian specialties that I might not have found on my own. Our guide, Manos, was a bit aloof and wasn’t particularly passionate about anything. We had not selected him as our guide, our guide backed out the day before due to illness. If you are looking for a “safe” and predictable tour this is it. Nice food tour

Manos was very congenial, very informative & very interesting, could not have asked for a better guide. He tailored the tour to our wishes, showed us a part of Athens we never would have found on our own. We explored a number of areas, got little history lessons anything but boring, learned a lot about late history Athens. If you like street art Minos knows exactly where to go -- highly recommended -- thanks Manos. Fantastic tour!!!
