Hi there! Nice to meet you

When about 20 years ago I moved in Tuscany from the Veneto region,

where I grow up, I had no projects for my life, just a lot of passions.

My desire was just living in what I still consider one of the most beautiful places in the world.

And I did.

I got a degree in history of Art at the University of Florence and I

became a professional tour guide.

Geniuslooci is the name of my project without a project:

a way to discover and, above of all, to understand this

incredible region through the lens of art, history, food

and nature. In a few words: understand the Spirit of

Tuscany.

Spontaneity, curiosity and simplicity are the words that

inspire me everyday when I try to share the fascinating culture of this land.

Sustainability is the compass I follow to make it concrete.

We were so fortunate to have Marco as our guide at the Uffizi. He is a great art historian who was able to shepherd us through the large collection and give us a more complete background on the amazing works of art. He is professional, patient, and kind. One of the absolute best tours we’ve ever done. After many trips to Firenze over the last ten years, we finally had the chance to explore Fiesole and Marco was the perfect guide. He was engaging, personable, incredibly knowledgeable and a joy to spend three hours with learning the vast history and culture of the area. Fiesole is a hidden gem with a fascinating history dating to the Etruscans. A highlight of the tour was the ruins of the Roman theater complete with temple and spa, and Marco’s ability to bring it to life and create vivid imagery of what it would have looked like in its prime was spectacular. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history and culture of this rich area and if you’re lucky enough to get Marco as your guide you’ll come away much richer! We absolutely loved our tour with Marco and came away with a far deeper understanding about the history of Florence, the Renaissance Artists and their work. We would suggest you do this at the beginning of your trip as there will be things you want to further explore in Florence as a result. Marco is very knowledgeable, engaging and a gentleman. We would wholeheartedly recommend this tour for anyone who is interested in understand this fasinating period of history.

This was truly an unforgettable visit of the Uffizi, my parents gave me a birthday present a guided visit of the Uffizi for me and my 3 friends with Marco, and this was such a wonderful experience. Marco adapted the visit to what we wanted to see, our pace and always put things in context. He patiently answered all our questions and there were many! He was captivating, shared many anecdotes and was very generous with his time. I am so grateful and could not have asked for a better guide. We had the absolute best time with Marco. He was a fantastic guide. So friendly, so helpful and so knowledgeable. Even though we only spent one day touring Florence, he made the absolute most of our time and we feel like we really discovered it. I have been to Florence four times in the past and never really thought that much of it. (I know, I’m sorry.) But with Marco, my wife and I absolutely fell in love with this fabulous city and all it has to offer. He was an absolutely exceptional guide for us in Florence and we feel like we have made a friend. Also, as an aside, our experiences with withlocals.com have all been outstanding. Marco was the third guide we have used with them and everyone of these experiences has been great. He told us a little bit about the vetting process and they don’t just let anybody represent them. He said that before he was allowed to work with them, they met with him in person. They talk to him, and they even went on a tour with him. We met Marco for our tour of the Uffizi on our first full day in Florence, and we could not have had a better beginning to our travels. Marco opened up not only the treasures of the gallery but also the Renaissance world and the interplay of so many factors of this dynamic time and its reflections in art. He was welcoming, articulate, enthusiastic, and insightful - we felt genuinely invited to engage. The four of us travelling together have different experiences and backgrounds, yet we all felt our morning with Marco added meaning to other sites in Florence and throughout our continued journeys. Marco is an excellent guide. He gave us a beautiful presentation of the artistic development of peinture from the renaissance to the realistic in the context of the rule of the Medicis. The combination of historical facts with typical anecdotes was so fascinating that at the end we didn’t feel the time pass but we felt richer in our understanding of the place of the Uffizi in art and history. Combining all this with Marco’s punctuality and very pleasant personality we wholeheartedly recommend Marco to any group. With Marco we really understood the Uffizi

The Uffizi is overwhelming without a guide. We have had about 4 guides during our Italy trip and Marco was standout the best. We had a group with different levels of art history knowledge including 2 teenagers and Marco was able to give us basically a History of Western Art course in 3 hours. Great English, witty and evidently deep knowledge in response to questions. Evidently loves his job. Could not recommend him highly enough.Brilliant guide to the Uffizi
