We are a family of five and Mateus has been a great guide. We started at the famous university, visited a nearby Jesuit church, walked down the hill through the old town and then had a break at a beautiful cafe to taste a local snack. We then proceeded along the riverside park and then finished the tour on the opposite shore. Mateus, as a student of the university, has in-depth knowledge of a student’s life and was also telling us all the funny stories of life as a local. He was more than capable of answering the typical difficult questions raised by our teenager kids! The tour did not include entry to the famous library and rooms of the university (which required paid tickets). However, Mateus sent us the link so we could purchase the tickets online for a visit the next day. We had a great time and would recommend Mateus to any visitors!Great walking tour

We did the 2 hour guided walk of Coimbra with Mateus. Mateus is a great story teller, and he gave us a good picture of Coimbra's history during the tour. I highly recommend him to everyone!Great storyteller

Without a doubt, the highlight of our Portugal trip was a full afternoon tour of Coimbra University, and its hidden gems from the top of the hill, all the way down to the Mondega river. Our family of 4 was so lucky to have a private tour with the absolute, best guide in Coimbra--Mateus! He is one of the friendliest, most knowledgeable, and accommodating guides we've ever had. He is a great communicator, fluent in English. He's also an upper-level student at Coimbra University, majoring in computer science...so he was able to share unique insights about university's history, programs and traditions. We would highly recommend Mateus to anyone interested in learning about Portugal's rich history/culture! It truly was an unforgettable experience!!! Many, many thanks Mateus! We travel a lot, and try to use private local guides on a regular basis. Mateus is one of the best guys we have had. He presented a great combination of history and local current information about Coimbra. The tour was very personalized to our needs, introducing us to the area and making suggestions for the rest of our stay. We enjoy learning about the history of the places we visit and he had a deep knowledge of the area. It was not from a standard presentation, but was able to answer all of our varied questions. You can tell that he is still very excited about being a tour guide and is eager to give you a good experience. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Best Guide in Years.

Mateus showed us Coimbra during a 3 hours tour. We learned a lot about the history of Coimbra and Portugal and saw the most important sites. Mateus is a very enthusiatic guide. Mateus was an excellent tour guide, prompt, cheerful, good command of English and Coimbra. Happy to oblige us with any special request, take pictures, spend extra time more than expected. Highly recommended. difficult to do the price value rating, as it was worth it. What does that mean? 5 out of 10 average, or meets expectation ? 10 out of 10? I don't know. Main thing we were very satisfied with the tour.Excellent tour with Mateus

We were in Coimbra for only one day and wanted to make the most of our visit. Mateus had great knowledge of everything in the city and even adapted our tour around an appointment at the library. He was an amazing guide and I recommend his tour to everyone! Amazing Coimbra Tour!
