As a gay couple, it’s important to feel comfortable and safe while travelling, and Mariel made us feel exactly that. She was a perfect guide: friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to. Mariel’s tour of the Centro Historico was a real highlight of our trip to CDMX. She is a great storyteller, and really gave us a good introduction to both the history of and contemporary life here. She was also extremely accommodating in finding time to reschedule our tour after we had a mix-up over the originally-booked time! Do be aware that you do not go into any of the museums on the tour (you do go inside the lobby of the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Post Office, the Cathedral, and the House of Tiles), so you may want to leave time to do that on your own after Mariel’s highly recommended tour!Fantastic Tour

We had an incredible time with Mariel and we all learned a lot. She knows so much about the history and people. She also set the perfect pace for our group of 3. We were expecting a tour of different types of tacos in parts of Mexico City, but got so much more than that from our couple of hours with Mariel! In addition to sharing the rich and varied history of tacos and their significance to Mexicans, Mariel shared some really valuable insights into the culture of the people, snippets of history and some personal experiences/anecdotes. The taco tasting was amazing and it was great to hear the history and personal stories behind what you see on the streets. We also really loved the way Mariel used the time on the tour to highlight the role of women in the cuisine and culture of Mexico City. Absolutely worth the price, thanks again Mariel and best wishes for the future! Amazing insights into culture & food

We truly enjoyed our time with Mariel- in her nuanced perspective as a student of social anthropology, she was able to expertly weave pre Hispanic history to modern day Mexico. It definitely made for entertaining, eye opening and vibrant discussions! Best Historic Center tour!
