Born in Padova, lived in beautiful italian cities such as Venice and Trento, Piero Bongiorno is an adopted florentine since 1986. Publishing is his main occupation but a ever-growing love of the arts pushed him to realize that he was living in a very special city,Florence, a rare case of beauty, history and art concentrated in a single, fairly small, place. The result was the decision to study it and, one thing leading to another, to complete the demanding course to obtain the Tour Guide License. And, voilà, here he is, guiding travelers, tourists, friends through wonderful Florence, with the goal to share a warm and fun experience together, enjoying the many monuments, churches, landscapes, art pieces that this city has to offer, with the hundreds stories related to them, stories of men and women that left a trace that still lingers and resonates. Of course being Italy the land of the Dolce vita, our man is no stranger to simple pleasures such as a nice glass of wine or great food, and he can gladly pass all the information about it!

Piero was fantastic! He was able to answer all of questions about Florence. He had cool stories about historical events. He adjusted his tour (and his waking pace) to suit our needs. Nice guy. Super knowledgeable.

We booked with Piero for the Historical Families tour, and we couldn't have been more pleased. My son (age 30) loves Ancient Roman history, but didn't know a lot about Florence, the Medicis or other Florentine historical figures. I myself have loved learning about Florence and its background, but definitely can always know more!
Piero didn't disappoint. We took an easy walk through the city, with Piero pointing out where history was made, and how these people shaped the city. At one point he told a story, and we were captivated, waiting for the end of the plot! That's what kind of tour it was: Interesting, entertaining and all around quite lovely.
My son learned all about the city, and its affect on the Renaissance, too. He was impressed. (And who doesn't want to treat their kid to something that impresses them?)

This is the second tour we have done with Piero and both have been excellent.
This time we asked to start at a restaurant where we had been having lunch. It wasn’t in a main tourist street so Piero had studied that area specially in order to tell us about the social history and show features that we would certainly have missed.
His English is excellent and he made our tour amusing, informative and colourful.

Piero was fantastic from start to finish!
We were on a hen party with 11 boozy ladies! We began the afternoon wine and cheese tasting in the centre of Florence and wanted to continue the theme but also being able to see and hear a little bit about Florence. We wanted a little bit of sightseeing with a little about the history and culture of Florence whilst being able to continue having a few sips along the way.
Piero was on board from the beginning and although this was an unusual request for him he proceeded to make enquires and put together a plan for us.
He met us at our brunch location at around 3pm and took us on a short walking tour of the city (as requested) with some lovely spots to stop along the way to sample the best Spritz, Fizz and Cocktails in town. We finished at a beautiful spot by the River Arno and enjoyed listening to his stories (even though we didn't give him much of a chance to speak) he was a great sport and joined in with our fun filled day!

We had a thrill with Piero. We booked a 3 hour tour and it really felt we could go on for more. Piero drove us right into the 'behind the curtains' stories attached to the main Florentine landmarks, enhanced with a sense for story telling and colorful details. This made this tour a real family experience you can can enjoy at all age. We strongly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic tour led by Piero! My family and I shared a fun morning with Piero. It was very easy to meet up with him at a central location. Although the day was very cold and windy, Pieros stories about the secrets in Firenze kept us going! The stories he shared were really informative, off the beaten path- PERFECT for what we were looking for when we booked the tour! He was constantly trying to engage with us, and made us feel very comfortable! He truly understands the subject matter- that was very apparent- yes, an expert! So if you are looking for a tour guide that really knows his stuff, Piero is the person you need! Starting from prompt (almost immediate) responses to my endless questions before we met, to accommodating last minute changes needed, Piero was our Italian Genie! He simply has all the magic and he will share it all. His story telling is so magical that it takes you back to an ancient world that is more alive than I ever thought possible. My husband and I lost track of time walking around with Piero and being led into his contagious love of history and the stories he tells. It was the best time we had in Florence and certainly the most memorable. Thank you so much Piero, until we meet again... ciao! Exceeded expectations! Piero is amazing!
