We chose Richard because of our keen interest in bird watching. But he not only knew the local birds well he led us through a fantastic site and his knowledge about plants and animals and the history of Singapore we found fascinating. We would recommend him to anyone who wants to know anything about the local wildlife.Local Nature Expert and Historian
Richard is a nature lover who shares his knowledge with great enthusiasm. We had wonderful hours in incredibly beautiful nature that passed far too quickly. Along the way, we learned interesting facts about Singapore, and to top it off, we enjoyed a delicious meal together with Richard at a hawker. A must for nature lovers
I booked Richard for a 7km hike from Windsor to treetop and back that ended up as a 10km hike to MacRitchie due to our fast pace. Richard was extremely knowledgable about the plant and animal life we emcountered, as well as informative about several aspects of his country's history and culture. The hike itself was fairly easy but still amazing, we emcountered a few monkeys, a monitor lizzard, some turtles etc. Overall, I was very satisfied and I recomment it to anyone. Thanks RichardTreetop hike with Richard.
This special trip shows a different perspective of singapore. Not a famous attraction, but hop into a lush greenery of the last rural village (kampong), visit Taoist shrine, and has a local meal at a nearby hawker centre. You will feel like a local rather than a traveller.
Our guide (Mr Richard) was very nice, cheerful, kind and knowledgable. He provided us many interesting information about Singapore history, Singaporeans and their daily life in the past and present. He also a keen plantsman and nature lover. We really enjoy this amazing experience. Thank you!Amazing and warm experience
We recently had the most incredible private walking tour in Singapore with Richard, booked through Withlocals, and we simply had to share our glowing experience! My wife and I opted for the "Ultimate Full Coverage Singapore City Tour," and it exceeded every expectation.
From the moment we met Richard, we knew we were in for a treat. His warm, friendly demeanor instantly put us at ease, and his passion for Singapore was infectious. He effortlessly blended historical facts with humorous anecdotes, making the entire tour engaging and entertaining.
Richard's knowledge of Singapore is truly exceptional. He expertly guided us through the iconic landmarks of the colonial district, Chinatown, and Tiong Bahru Market, but what truly set him apart was his ability to reveal hidden gems and local secrets that we would have never discovered on our own.
Richard took us to "some spots you usually wouldn’t see," giving us a truly authentic glimpse into the city.
The tour was perfectly tailored to our interests, demonstrating Richard’s remarkable flexibility and attentiveness. He answered all our questions with patience and enthusiasm, and his recommendations for the rest of our stay were invaluable. We loved how he seamlessly incorporated insights into Singapore's culture, architecture, and history, making the tour both informative and deeply personal.
What truly made this experience unforgettable was Richard's storytelling. He brought Singapore's rich history and multicultural influences to life, captivating us with fascinating stories and insightful conversations. We left feeling enriched and inspired.
Richard's genuine enthusiasm, humor, and extensive knowledge made our tour an absolute highlight of our trip. If you're looking for a personalized, engaging, and unforgettable experience in Singapore, we wholeheartedly recommend booking a tour with Richard through Withlocals. He is, without a doubt, a brilliant guide! Thank you, Richard, for making our time in Singapore so special!
Brilliant Tour with Richard!
We wanted to get out the tourist areas and so found this great tour with Richard "Off the Beaten Track". Richard is very knowledgeable and passionate about Singapore. He took us through Kampong Lorong Buangkok which is the last kampong located in Singapore, it was just incredible. He shared lots of valuable information with us through out the 3hr tour. We walked and we also took the bus as well. At the end of the tour he took us to a Hawkers food market which we shared some Roti Prata and fish curry sauce which was truly delicious, actually the best I have ever tasted. Going to Kampong on your own you will miss so much about the history, so well worth going on this fabulous tour.Fantastic experience
We enjoyed a great 5 hours + tour with Richard. He was friendly and engaging, making sure that he covered all that we were interested in. He was kind enough to meet us at our hotel rather than us having to deal with the MRT as first time visitors. We only had a short time in Singapore and this gave us the chance to learn about the history and way of life. I’m sure we will be back and would gladly choose Richard to be our guide again.Excellent overview of Singapore
Great trip with Richard in Pasir Ris Park in Singapore. Lots of birds and other local wildlife. Richard is a great guy to spend time with, lots of local knowledge and insights about the local flora and fauna but also plenty of interesting narrative about growing up in the area as a young boy, which brings it all to life. He's also a very knowledgeable photographer, willing to guide a hobby photographer like me on settings and composition. I highly recommend a morning stroll with Richard in Singapore.
My husband and I came to Singapore for the first time from Canada! Our tour guide was switched from our original booking the day before to Richard. Maybe we got lucky! Richard met us on time and was a wonderful source of information. He walked with us for 4 hours and gave us a great understanding of the struggles and triumphs of Singapore! He was born and raised here and his pride for his country was overflowing!! We tried Kaya Toast and coffee, ice cream sandwiches and he arranged for us to have chicken and rice in Chinatown. He taught us how to use the efficient transportation system and we were brave enough to go to Chinatown alone for dinner and find more affordable breakfast options for the remainder of our trip! Priceless! This man can walk fast, has quick wit and a kind heart! Go for a walk in Singapore with Richard!! Take a walk with Richard!
We only had one full day. Richard was excellent in giving us what we asked for. We like history and he knew his history. We got a very good over view from a local perspective in 5 hours.
The only reason I would say it wasn’t perfect was that little India was disappointing. I would rather of been told to spend my time going elsewhere. But we included it on our list so that is not on him.
5 hours was not enough. I wish we had done more. Richard was a real person and great to speak with. We really liked him. Quick Singapore
