Our guide, Rolf, was an amazing source of information about Van Gogh. Being an art historian his knowledge of Van Gogh was absolutely perfect. He came prepared with an iPad that he used to show us additional parts of Van Gogh's life that really completed the tour. Highly recommend Rolf!An Incredible journey of Van Gogh's work

We had a wonderful family tour (two 15 year olds) with Rolf. Rolf struck a nice balance between speaking to the adults while at the same time holding the teenagers’ interest. We particularly enjoyed how he put the art in the broader historical context. We will definitely seek Rolf out for our next Rijksmuseum visit. Great Tour with Rolf

Had a great tour of the Van Gogh museum with Rolf. He offered to buy our tickets ahead of time so we could skip the line and spend more time in the museum, spent time preparing visual examples we could look at on his tablet screen, and taught us as a group how an art historian can isolate details in studying a painting. If you want to learn about Van Gogh’s life, understand how his paintings in context, and learn how to study them, there is no better guide.Van Gogh Museum Tour

Our tour of the Van Gogh Museum with Rolf was wonderful. We were a group of two and adults and an 8 year old. Rolf had his work cut out for him from the onset, and he more than met the occasion keeping us all interested and engaged! We all learned a great deal about Van Gogh and were able to take some of that knowledge with us when we toured the Rijksmuseum on our own. We very much enjoyed our personal art history lesson about the life and work of Van Gogh. Rolf brought Van Gogh, his work and struggles to life. I not only gained an appreciation for the art itself and why it was a significant step forward. I also learned about the importance of a support system that enabled Van Gogh to develop as an artist. Van Gogh’s brother provided monetary support and his brother’s wife made it her mission to create an exhibit to share his little known art and genius with the world. A new appreciation for Van Gogh

Walking through the Van Gogh museum with Rolf as our guide was a fabulous afternoon immersed in all things Van Gogh. Rolf’s knowledge of Van Goghs life, the artist peers who influenced him and the various locales from which he painted brought his art to life. Rolf’s use of his iPad deepened our understanding of many of the paintings that we visited. We finished our time at the Kiefer exhibit which tied our whole afternoon together. It was extraordinary to start by understanding who influenced Van Gogh and finishing up by seeing how Van Gogh influenced Kiefer.
