Title: Misleading Tour, Poor Value & No Accountability – Beware of Withlocals Siena Food Tour If you're considering booking the “10 Tastings of Siena” food tour through Withlocals—don’t. My family of four paid over $700 CAD for what was advertised as a rich, local culinary experience. What we received instead was minimal food (maybe 4 true tastings, two of which were shared), with questionable value and no transparency. While our guide was knowledgeable, we left hungry, disappointed, and feeling taken advantage of. A breakdown of the food we actually received—generously valued—came to roughly €155 (~$230 CAD). That leaves nearly $470 unaccounted for. When we raised this with the company, Withlocals refused a refund and offered only a €200 voucher—a meaningless gesture when you’ve lost trust. What’s worse, it appears that some stops may have been free to the operator, as no transactions were made during certain tastings. When pressed, the company stood by the tour operator and did not address our concerns about misleading advertising, despite clear evidence the tour didn’t meet their promise of “10 tastings.” We did four food tours during our recent stay in Italy and Greece and this was by far the most expensive with the least value. As a business owner, I find this appalling. This company’s refusal to own the misrepresentation—and then try to placate us with a coupon—speaks volumes. Bottom line: The food was sparse and underwhelming. The pricing was wildly inflated. The company refuses to take responsibility. Avoid Withlocals. Stella was amazing.She is a true local in every sense of the word and had so many unique stories about Sienna that only someone that has lived there their whole life could tell. She was personal friends with so many shop owners, restaurant owners, bakers, wine shop owners. That made it truly a unique and special day. Seriously one of the best tours we've ever done, and we have toured all over the world. Highly, highly recommend Stella for your tour of Sienna. Unfortunately, Stella fell ill before our tour so she asked Maria Alberta to fill in for her. Maria did a wonderful job and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. She walked us around the highlights of Siena and gave us so many personal insights that we’d never have figured out on our own. My daughter Sophie and I will be forever grateful we met Maria and we certainly recommend her and ‘withlocals’ for anyone visiting Italy.Grazie, Maria Alberta

We have visited Siena several times, but wanted to do a tour that would take us under the skin of the city and different to the usual tourist route. Stella was incredibly warm, friendly and so so knowledgeable, I don't know how she keeps all that history of the city in her head! It's due to her passion for history and her city. It was interesting to hear about the history of the Piazza del Campo and its buildings, the people who lived there. What we enjoyed most though was learning all about the Contrade, we knew of them, but not about all the rivalries and the part they have played within the city not just in past times but just as much today. We visited a contrada museum which was so interesting - we hadn't even known there were contrada museums before. Stella seemed to know everyone!!! This in itself gave us a more intimate view of the people of the city today, how friendly they are and what an incredible place it is. Thank you so much Stella!Excellent!

The guided tour was very interesting and gave us a great insight into the different "contradas" of Siena and how this tradition has managed to survive and remain so vibrant after all these years. Visiting a "contrada" and getting in touch with the locals was a wonderful experience. The tour can be tailored to your personal interests, which makes it even more special. We had an absolutely amazing time with Stella learning about Siena and trying some absolutely amazing food. The portions were generous, and the food was absolutely delicious. But the highlight of the tour was Stella. Her knowledge, passion and humour made our three hours so entertaining. Would highly recommend.Fantastic tour

Stella is an excellent tour guide and we wouldn’t hesitate to use her again. She was extremely knowledgeable, able to impart both historical and modern information about Siena with clarity and insight. She was also charming, warm and engaging.
