⸻ I booked Theo from Australia and truly could not have chosen a better guide! With so many years of experience, Theo was full of knowledge and information that we soaked up daily. As we wanted a tailored experience, he took us everywhere we wished to go — from a Sunday church service, to a private wine tasting and tour at Babylonstoren Wine Estate, to exploring Table Mountain and the vibrant Bo-Kaap. Wherever we went, Theo ensured our comfort and safety, even staying at restaurants until we were ready to leave so he could see us home safely. He went above and beyond what we asked — from taking our men for a haircut, to suggesting fantastic local spots for lunch, including where we tried Cape Town’s famous Gatsby! By the end of our trip, Theo didn’t just feel like a guide — he felt like family. We are so grateful to have met him and cannot recommend him highly enough. Thank you, Theo. The tour with Theo was both interesting and enjoyable! He’s incredibly knowledgeable about South African history as well as its current social and political landscape. We took the tour the day after we arrived, and it was the perfect introduction to the country—helping us understand both its past and present. Theo was also extremely helpful beyond the tour itself, offering great recommendations for the rest of our trip and for local restaurants. It was a absolutely pleasure you get WithLocal to support us with a guided trip though Cape Town. Theo was more than a guide, he was our best buddy in down town Cape Town. Like a brother, who knows every details, every small corner and stories in the city. It was fantastic to drop in to random shops, get out though the backdoor, taste food the right places and with a gentle gestus make sure that any left-overs was shared with the right people. Theo listed to what we would like to see and explore and meet our wish to more than perfection. We enjoyed every minute with Theo who took us around the heart of Cape Town and shared his immense treasure of insides with us: history, politics, architecture, social issues, in addition an introduction into local botanics and inside stories over stories…. All this at a very relaxing and agreeable pace, no rush, always mindful of his clients interests and preferences…. No questions remained unanswered and his explanations truly broadened our perspectives…. He provided us a broader perspective on life in Cape Town and a view behind the scenes! All in all a very worthwhile experience…. time flew and we could have continued much longer… finally his restaurant recommendation was spot on too!!!! And above all he is a very nice guy….. We truly enjoyed our time spent with Theo, even if it was a little different from the advertised experience. Rather than walking for 4 hours we were standing about half that time in the castle alone (a little too long for our taste). However, he was able to provide wonderful insights in South African Society, politics and economics, which we truly enjoyed. Not sure we saw many of the promised "hidden gems", but the meeting point itself was already a worthwhile experience with fantastic coffee and baked goods. Overall a great half day out and a fantastic host sharing his stories and insights with us. Thanks Theo!very entertaining
