Hi I am Tommi! Firstly when thinking about Amsterdam, many name things like the Anne Frank museum, Van Gogh museum, Rembrandt, The Red Light District and the coffeeshops. But Amsterdam is truly so much more!! Eleven years ago I started as a guide, the experience showing and touring around the city of Amsterdam and the Netherlands as a private guide, as well for many groups, is something I still love doing every day! Meeting amazing people from around the world.

I have Aspergers Syndrome (autism), and because I am a little different, I have the gift of detail. I show Amsterdam from a different perspective and angle! With my enthusiasm, sociality and love for details, I will show you my city, its history and its hidden secrets, which even most Amsterdam locals don’t know about! Bringing you to places where most tourists don’t even come.

Tommi did an awesome job of simplifying his vast knowledge of the area for my three kids. He was very enthusiastic and passionate that my kids didn’t want the tour to end. This was our first time using WithLocals and it could not have been a better experience with Tommi. His knowledge of Amsterdam history and passion of the architecture was contagious. He also took us outside of the touristy areas which was nice. He provided great details and answered all of our questions. We took this tour our first day in Amsterdam so he was able to show us how to use the Metro and get around in general. This gave us the confidence to explore the rest of Amsterdam during our stay. We loved our morning with Tommi. He was on time and asked us what we were looking to get from this. We told him that we were looking beyond the tourist traps and wanted to say local life. Tommi didn't disappoint. He showed us things and told us things we would probably never discover alone. He was so knowledgeable and had plenty to say with every fine detail he showed us. My wife and I took a highlights and hidden gems tour with Tommi and had a blast. We covered a lot of the city that we would have been apprehensive to check out on our own. Some of our favorite areas ended up being in places we would not have gone without a guide. Tommi provided a lot of historical information coupled with experiences of life as a native and local. We asked a lot of questions and he was ready with detailed answers. He provided many specific stories that are so much more memorable to go along with the general history or facts about the city. We’d highly recommend Tommi to anyone interested in a real conversation about life in Amsterdam or it’s culture. Excellent tour!

Tommi met us in the morning, asked us what we had going on that day, and customized an all day walking tour with us. He gave very generously of his time, was extremely knowledgeable about the city, and made really wonderful selections for things to take us to. I cannot recommend him highly enough. If you are interested in history and learning more about Dutch culture you will not be disappointed. He also knew a lot about architecture, and while we didn't ask for this in advance, we were super happy to get to learn about the history of many of the buildings and the architectural tradition here. What's more, he gave us homework for things to do in our trailing days in the city that weren't the main tourist things to do. 10/10 with great enthusiasm from our whole group. I booked Tommi for a three hour walking tour of Amsterdam, and it turned out brilliantly. Tommi was on time at the meeting point, a good way to start. We walked a short distance to one of the main streets and then on the train station. Even at these first two sights Tommi was full of knowledge and information much more than just the obvious history. We went on to cover many other places of interest before taking a short metro ride and having lunch at a lovely old villa/mansion house. Again, he was very informative and amusing. He also checked in with me a couple of times to make sure we were covering things that interested me. Tommi has absolutely perfect English, and also showed a lot of curiosity as to my background and country (Australia). I would book him again for sure. Tommi is a star
