I’m Richard — a licensed private guide and experience designer with over 50 years of local knowledge in Chiang Mai. I hold a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, but my true passion lies in travel, history, culture, Buddhism, and food. Over the years, I have extensively researched Thailand’s heritage and traditions, and combined this knowledge with my lifelong love for food, coffee, and bakeries — exploring everything from humble street stalls to Michelin-starred restaurants.
I create fully private, flexible tours that go far beyond the tourist path — no tourist traps, no shopping stops, and no rushed schedules. My itineraries are thoughtfully tailored to each guest’s interests, whether it’s ancient temples, peaceful mountain villages, rescued elephants, lush nature, or Chiang Mai’s vibrant hidden food scene.
With years of experience hosting discerning high-end travelers, I understand the expectations of premium service — from comfort and attention to detail to creating seamless, memorable journeys. My goal is to connect you with Thailand through authentic experiences, personal stories, and the warmth of a true local friend.
"I’m still quite new to Withlocals, which is why you’ll only see a few reviews here for now. In fact, I’ve been guiding in Chiang Mai and around Thailand for many years, sharing my love for history, culture, food, and hidden local gems. I studied Finance (Master’s degree from UNSW in Australia), but what I truly enjoy most is connecting with people and sharing stories about Chiang Mai and Thailand. Sometimes I haven’t been available as often, so I haven’t collected many reviews yet — but every tour I host comes from the heart, like welcoming a new friend to my hometown."
